Hi I'm Jack

I'm a Mormon. I was born & raised in Coastal SE Georgia.

About Me

I've always loved sports(baseball, football, basketball) and music(bass guitar). I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 39 years. We have two great kids and 4 wonderful grandchildren. I have a Bachelors in Business Administration from Valdosta State('74) and have been self employed most of my life(service station 77-85) and Real Estate Broker(83-2011). Born & raised as a Baptist I got a strong faith in Jesus Christ at an early age. In 1976 my wife & I joined the LDS church. In 1977 my wife & I were sealed to our children for time and all eternity in the temple in Washington D.C. In addition to being a Real Estate Broker in am a long time Real Estate investor; I love what I do for a living.

Why I am a Mormon

I tragically lost my Father in 1975 when I was 23. Nothing before or since has affected my life as much as the loss of my Daddy. I was overwhelmed with grief and fear about what the future held for me and my family. In 1977 my wife wanted to take the missionary discussions offered by the LDS Church. When they asked my permission for my wife to take them I refused; we were already members of the Baptist faith. When my wife continued asking me to give permission for her to take the discussions I finally said yes just to get her to leave me alone. After a couple of weeks of taking the discussions, my wife seemed happy and faithful in what she was being taught. She asked me several times if I wanted to take the discussions. After a few no's I finally said yes; I was going to take the lessons to prove that they were wrong. Needless to say, after the 2nd or 3rd discussion, the holy spirit witnessed to me that what the missionaries were telling my wife and I were true. We were then both baptized on August 28, 1976.

How I live my faith

My wife and I now attend church weekly after many years of being inactive. I am a home teacher and my wife and I are proud that our oldest grandchild attends seminary. We now listen to the BYU channel on TV, study our scriptures, and pray daily. It has made a large difference in my life. When I obey God's commandments to the best of my ability, it doesn't restrict my life; it makes my life much more rewarding and increases my freedoms. I found out that living my life according to "Jack's" will was not happiness or freedom.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Being very skeptical of the Mormon faith, I took the missionary discussions to satisfy my wife and to prove that what they were teaching was not true. After a couple of lessons the missionaries told me to pray to Heavenly Father and ask if what they were teaching me was true. When I did this the Spirit was so strong and let me know that in fact what they were teaching me was true. There was no doubt about it! Show more Show less
