Hi I'm Joel

I'm a soldier, I'm a student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been in school for over ten years and can't seem to cross that finish line, especially with my military duties. But I wouldn't want it any other way. I love school and I love serving my country. When I'm not working or procrastinating homework, I like to play racquetball and watch dumb movies with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I think everyone yearns to be part of something big and meaningful. Something that gives purpose to their lives. I know I did. That's part of why I joined the military. I wanted to serve my country and help other people. Yet even that wasn't enough for me. I had to pray about the church to know that it was true. I had to embrace the community of saints and draw strength from their camaraderie. Now, I'm embarked on the biggest mission of my life. Now I follow God.

How I live my faith

Trying to balance a military career with college classes is tough, but trying to do it without the Lord's help is even harder. While deployed, I would try to read the scriptures or pray every day, especially before a big mission. In school, I do the same thing, but now I pray before taking tests. I love going to church because I get to talk and listen to people discuss their faith.
