Hi I'm Robert

I grew up in England. I trained as a civil engineer. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a father of 6, 5 boys and 1 girl, and a grandfather of 14 to date, all of whom keep me very active. I was Managing Director of a family business involving the distribution of electrical components. I joined the Church at the age of 10 as a result of my father's miraculous conversion, my mother joined 4 years later. I attended university getting a degree in Civil Engineering and got married in 1971 to a young lady I met on a Church building site! When our first three sons were only young we went to live in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for almost 4 years where I was involved in the construction of the then largest dry dock in the world. In whatever spare time I get, which isn't much, I like to spend some of it with my grandchildren, in particular supporting the boys on their soccor teams. We love to travel and especially enjoy holidays in the South of France.  At present holidays are on hold whilst I am currently serving the Church as a Mission President

Why I am a Mormon

My father was converted to the Church when I was 10 years old and I was also taught with him. Even at that early age I knew what the missionaries taught me was true. My mother joined the Church 4 years later as the result of a miracle. It's a long story but it resulted in her giving birth to a little girl and gaining her own witness that the Church was true. Although I always knew the Church was true I sometimes relied on the faith of my parents, at the age of 18 I gained my own personal witness of the Book of Mormon. I love every day of my life. The gospel has always brought me happiness I love to serve, and especially love now working with our young missionaries.

How I live my faith

Before this assignment as Mission President I worked full-time in our family business whilst also serving within my local church unit. I was also a governor for a local primary school which I thoroughly enjoyed. Throughout my life I have tried to serve my fellow Church members and my local community, visiting the widows or the sick and organizing various Church events. I love to work with the youth of the Church and have spent part of each summer helping with a youth convention for our local youth members and their friends.
