Hi I'm Shawna

I grew up in California. I'm a mom of 2. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay at home mom to two little munchkins. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Architectural Engineering. I loved school but am happy now to be home with my kiddos. I love scrapbooking, sewing, cooking, Victorian era novels and movies, and organizing. I know I'm a nerd, but cleanliness and order make me happy.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that I have a Heavenly Father, and that He knows me. I know that He has a plan for me and that He loves me personally. I want to improve my relationship with Him and I know that comes best when I follow His commandments. Being a member of His church has allowed me to grow personally and develop a relationship with Him that I never would have had otherwise. Life often throws us challenges and trials - when I rely on the Lord and His church I always find the peace and support that I need.

How I live my faith

I teach a class of 10 five-year olds every Sunday. I help them understand the basics of our gospel and the importance of being a member of the church. I also visit with three different women in my ward each month. We talk about our lives and challenges and the monthly message that the church leadership provides specifically for this purpose. Our goal is to take a brief moment out of our busy lives to share something sacred. It helps to strengthen us throughout the month. We are also able to call on one another in times of need. Forging these friendships has helped me to make friends when I move to new places. It also gives me an opportunity to know these women better that I would if I only saw them at church.
