Hi I'm Megan

I'm a Mormon. I'm a wife and mother. I'm an adoptee. I've fought breast cancer.

About Me

I am a bargain shopper who lives in a small town. The internet is my shopping friend! I like to play photographer although I refuse to use anything but a point-and-shoot camera. I'm stubborn like that! I use Facebook (probably more than I should!) and my friends can usually count on me to have the information they're looking for. My 3 kids keep me busy. My oldest graduated from high school and is currently serving in the Chile Santiago West Mission for two years. I still stay busy at home with the other two kids running between different schools, church activities, orthodontist appointments, etc. I graduated from BYU with a degree in Family Science. I always knew I'd be a mom and that I wanted to stay home to raise my kids. So, I figured I should have a degree which would be relevant to my life's work. And, let me tell you, I use that degree every single day! The world of broadcast journalism nearly had an avid reporter on their hands, but love and life taught me that my place was with my family before I got too far into that field of study.

Why I am a Mormon

My faith in my Savior brings me great peace. I used to think that my faith was weak. Was I wrong! From deaths in my family to fighting cancer, my knowledge of the gospel has sustained me. I do not doubt the love my Heavenly Father has for me. I feel it every day. He is closer than we usually realize. I am a child of God. He loves me enough to give me agency which allows me to make choices for myself. He knew me, and he knew I could handle such a responsibility. He also provided for me (and you!) a Savior who would make up for my shortcomings and sins. I choose to give him my broken heart and my contrite spirit in return. He provided me with a family who would raise me within the framework of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been a blessing to me throughout my life. The gospel does not restrict me in my life or my choices. It protects me and allows me to make more choices by freeing me from undue burdens of greater sin. What peace I have knowing that a living prophet today can guide the disciples of Christ with authority and with all the Priesthood keys given to Peter by Christ himself! When I follow the prophet's counsel, I am following direct revelation from heaven. It's marvelous to understand that miracles on the earth and revelation have not ceased! My faith is a great boon to me. And so is the church.

How I live my faith

Most importantly, are these 3 things: daily study of the Book of Mormon, daily prayer, and weekly church attendance! My current stewardships in the church include being a Visiting Teacher to 5 women in the congregation. My companion and I visit them each month, bring a short message provided by church leaders, and catch up on life. They are my friends so it is easy to sit and chat as well as provide watchcare for them! Through my calling in the church, I also help others know that we follow Jesus Christ. I am always looking to connect with leaders of local churches to see how we can help each other to care for the poor and needy through service. It's amazing how much we have in common! Working together to follow our Savior and His mission is awesome! Life is all about service. It's just what we do. And, doing it with friends throughout the community is so much more fun!
