Hi I'm Phil

I'm a husband, father of five, tech geek, Sci-Fi fan and yes... I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the United States Northeast, where there are very few Mormons. My parents joined the church when I was a child. I have always been interested in many kinds of art. I have always tried to stay involved in the technical theater. I love Science Fiction, biking, swimming, board games, computers, art and wood working. I am happily married to the most wonderful woman in the world and we have been blessed with 5 incredible children. I have held many different jobs, mostly involved in some form of design. I also spent 10 years as the technical theater director for a local high school. I now work in the computer industry making interactive web applications.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe at some time in everyone's life they must make the decision to truly believe in something or not. This time came to me near the end of high school. I began to realize that many of my friends were either having serious struggles or they seemed genuinely happy. I figured out that the difference was their faith. I had always felt very good about my religion but that was as far as I went. I decided that I needed to know if it was really true or not. I started to read the scriptures more and prayed more. Little by little I felt closer and closer to the Lord and suddenly realized that I knew, without any doubt, that He cared for me and that this was His church. I also realized that I needed to share this with others, that is when I knew that I was going to serve a mission. I was called to serve a mission in Brazil. This was was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. There were so many things that happened in those 2 years that solidified my testimony and strengthened my faith in God. I know that God lives and loves us. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior. I know that He has called prophets to speak for Him to us in these latter days. That is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Living and working in the Northeast where there are few Mormons and I have had many opportunities to explain why I am different and what I believe. Some of the things I do or don't do always stand out, no swearing, no drinking alcohol or coffee, no working on Sunday among other things. These differences always cause others to ask why. I cannot remember a time when I have not been respected for my beliefs. I always
