Hi I'm Ryan

I grew up in San Jose California, love theatre, yoga, and traveling, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 years old and have two younger sisters and a very close extended family. I love my family and have really enjoyed learning and growing with them and really felt the blessings from God in our lives. In my family there are a plethora of religions and ideas about why we are here or what the purpose of life is. I have found that while our ideas are important it is our love for eachother as a family and our respect and tolerance that defines us. I love theatre, especially musical theatre. I think acting, singing, and dancing, is sooo much fun. I also really enjoy yoga, water skiing, and just hanging out on the beach, or watching movies, or reading a good book. I also love to travel and have been able to go on many vacations and excursions with my family or with school. I love the opoortunity to meet new people, see how they live their lives, what they eat, etc. I love people so much. I went to university for a year and plan on returning soon. I was studying Political Science and plan on going into law and diplomacy. I love world politics and enjoy reading the news and talking to people from all over the world. I am currently serving a mission in the Montreal Canada Mission. It is so awesome to be out here meeting people and talking to them about my beliefs and learning more about their`s. Additionally I love the oportunity to try new food and see some pretty cool and cold places.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church and that certainly influenced me but it is not why I am a member of this church. I am a member of this church because I am converted. I read the Book of Mormon and continue to read it daily and am constantly inspired by the writings of the ancienct prophets. I prayed about and got an answer as to the truthfulness of this Book. It was a witness by the Spirit and for the rest of my life I will never be able to deny that I know this is true. I know that this is the true Church of Jesus Christ and know that anyone and everyone can find out for themselves.

How I live my faith

Well right now I am serving a mission which gives me an opportunity to share my joy and beliefs with others. Missionaries are people who invite others to read and pray and on my mission I have seen people do that and seen it change their lives.

In whom should we have faith?

We all have faith in something or someone. Faith is something that we all naturally have. An example a religion teacher at my university one asked me is how do you know your mother loves you. I responded because she tells me so. He then proceeded to prove that there is no way I can prove my mother loves me. Every proof I offered was disproved almost before it left my mouth. I then finally realized that I had no proof my mother loved me, yet that did not diminish my love for my mother nor my mother's love for me. I had faith. We all have faith. We have faith in our loved ones, in things that bring us joy, faith that the sun will rise tomorrow, faith that we will arrive safely to wherever we are traveling. Human life runs on faith. The difficulty is in extending that faith beyond what we see everyday and putting that faith, that trust, in the Lord Jesus the Christ. The Savior is the only thing in life that is certain. His love for us, His Atonement for us, and His desire to constantly help us is just that constant and unchanging. I testify that He loves us and that He atoned for our sins and sorrows. I testify that this is His true church, and I testify that in Him should we place our trust that when the "whirlwinds and fiery darts of adversity come" to quote an ancient prophet, or in other words, when we find our lives in upheaval or ourselves in challenging situations we may stand strong upon the foundation of Christ our Lord and in our God.  Show more Show less
