Hi I'm Chris

I'm a student, I like to collect EVERYTHING, I'm an airplane enthusiast, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a missionary serving in the Alabama, Birmingham mission, and loving every minute of it! I'm from Utah. I'm a pilot, flight is my passion - before I came on my mission I was studying aviation technology at a University. I love to golf when I have enough time. I have a wonderful family who supports me in everything that I do, and I grew up having the Gospel as a part of my life. I love Heavenly Father, and I want to share that same love with everyone that I meet, as I serve the him on a Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I've never been able to doubt that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is true, and that God does have a perfect plan for each one of us. Although I'd always grown up within the church, I had to make a decision for myself whether or not it would be something that I would need to stick with when I got older. This is where prayer and studying became some of the most important things in my life. When I read the Book of Mormon for the first time, all the way through, I prayed to know if the things that were written in it were true. The feeling of calmness and peace that I had when I did this were all that I needed to know in my heart that everything in the book was true and these are the same feelings that I have when I live the Gospel each day. I love the warmness, and the closeness that each of our congregations have around the world no matter which church building you walk into, you can feel the same love from our heavenly father, and I know that this is possible through a modern-day Prophet of God, who leads the Church today, as the Prophets of old did. I know that the Church is true, and that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer, and that only through him can we return to live with God, and our families, forever.

How I live my faith

Attending church every Sunday, and reading the scriptures daily is one of the ways that I live my faith. I try to live my life in a way that reflects who I represent - Jesus Christ. This means always keeping God's commandments, and following the savior's example. As a business owner, especially, I tried to be honest in my dealings with everyone, and help people in a christlike way. As a missionary today, I spend all day, every day, telling people about this wonderful gospel that has blessed my life so much, and about how God still speaks to us today through Prophets, who can help us to know God's will.

How are the activities of the Mormon missionaries funded?

Missionaries typically self-fund their own missions. Young men prepare to serve a mission financially by saving up money that can be used to fund their mission, sometimes saving up the entire amount that will be required for the two years of service before they leave on their missions. Missionaries are not financially compensated for their time in the mission field, and do not have a regular-paying job while they are in the mission. Missionaries do not solicit or ask for sponsorship for their mission related expenses. Members of the Church can also contribute to the worldwide mission effort, by donating to the General Missionary Fund. This fund also provides help for those missionaries who have a strong desire to serve, but may not have the necessary financial means to do so. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Missionaries proselyte, because we have such a unique message about Jesus Christ that we want to share with the world. Jesus Christ is the most important being who has ever walked the face of the earth. Through him, everyone who accepts him as their Savior and Redeemer can return to live with him and Heavenly Father when they die. It is part of the love that God has for all of his children that made possible the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Our message - which is that God has again reached out to us through a modern prophet, and still continues to speak to us today, and continues to reveal things to us today shows that God still loves us, just as he loved us in the past, because he is the same today, yesterday, and forever. Why wouldn't we want to share this wonderful news with everyone that we can? Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes. Because of the love that Heavenly Father has for each one of his children, he has always, throughout history, given us prophets to relay his messages to us. While, as children of God, we each have the opportunity to receive revelation and speak with God through prayer, Prophets play a special role in leading Christ's church, and showing people the way to repentance - Amos 3 vs 7. Jesus Christ himself "gave some Apostles, and some Prophets" in the Bible, and continues to do so today. They are symbols of his love for us, and of the importance of the Atonement of his son, Jesus Christ, for which the prophets act as special witnesses of.  Show more Show less
