Hi I'm Mark

I am a husband, father, grandpa and podiatrist. I am also a Mormon.

About Me

I have four sons, and the best wife. Life for me seems centered on my family and the Gospel. My sons and I have enjoyed the fishing and outdoors together in Alaska. Alaska is a great place to live if you enjoy the outdoors. My sons are married and or are away at college now. Fishing is not something that happens too much in the family now. Still, it seems that we enjoy being together as a family more than anything else. My work brought me to Alaska. I am a podiatrist and purchased a practice here while my family was still quite young. Alaska has been good to us. My wife and I are however, feeling a pull to move to the lower 48 so that we can be closer to children and grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

In the mid to later 1800's, I had ancestors that converted to the LDS faith and immigrated to Utah. I was born to parents who were LDS in word and deed. When I was just four years old my dad died, leaving my mother with five children to raise alone. Amazingly, she never seemed to lack faith. She was and still is about the most grateful person I've ever known. Mom brought her kids to church with her and never asked us to live in any way or do anything that she wasn't willing to do or live herself. Her example helped show me that joy and happiness come from following the Savior. I have tried to follow her example in my life and have come to understand that the more I try to live as the gospel teaches, the stronger and stronger are the feelings I have that Christ really is my Savior, that I do have a Father in Heaven who really is my Father, who loves me as only a perfect Father can. Jesus taught that if a man will do His will, he will know if the doctrine is of God or not. Christ's restored Church and His Gospel are true. I have found nothing but satisfaction, happiness and peace as I have tried to live life according to Christ's doctrine. I have come to believe with my whole being that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church. Everything asked of me through His church brings goodness and makes me better. I am grateful for great parents and ancestors who loved the Lord and loved me enough to accept the gospel and try to live it's teachings.

How I live my faith

I served a two year mission to the Switzerland Zurich mission as a young man. Shortly after returning home, I married my sweetheart in the temple. We promised each other to keep God and family our highest priorities. We have tried to spend our whole life and all our efforts to keep our promises. My wife and I have been actively involved in the local church where we have lived. We have always wanted to work in the church and have had many opportunities. At the present time, I work in our local church unit in what we call the ward mission. As a ward missionary, I get to teach and serve members and non-members in our area. My wife and I have found service brings great joy.
