Hi I'm Matt Cherry

I live in Arizona. I'm a husband, and I'm a father. I like dirt bike riding, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My wife and I have six children. I work in the airconditioning business, and she works much harder than I do at home with the kids. She and I love spending time with our family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but fell away when I was a teenager. I met and married my wife while she and I were attending college. She was not a Mormon at the time, but regardless of her religious state (or mine for that matter) we were married. Shortly after she and I had our first child, she told me that she thought it was important that our daughter learned about Jesus Christ so she started going to church. I was not interested, so she went on her own, and started attending the Mormon church by where we lived. I saw the light of Christ in her growing, and knew it was the right thing to be doing, and also knew I needed to be doing it as well. She was baptized a short time later, and we have been fully active in the church for over 11 years now. I know our lives are better and our realtionship with eachother and our children is wonderful because of the values and beliefs we have by following our Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I choose to live my faith each day, by following simple principles. Of course we keep the commandments, follow the word of wisdom, and try to maintain a healthy, happy, Christ like home. We both serve in what we refer to as "callings" in our church. A calling is like a responsibility given to a member of the Church of Jesus Christ, and it is our way of serving God, and our fellow members. We attend church each week, and our children attend their weekly youth activities. We also feel it important to pay an honest tithe, and give back to God to show our gratitude for all he has given us. I serve in the leadership of our local church, and my wife is part of the women's organization and helps to plan or organize some of the extra meetings that the women have. She and I both love our callings, and get great enjoyment in serving.

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Matt Cherry
The Book of Mormon was written by God's ancient prophets, just like the bible was. It was translated by the prophet Joseph Smith as a record of the people on the american continent. It is another witness of Jesus Christ, and it testifies of his coming, birth, life, ministry, atonement, and ressurection. Show more Show less

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Matt Cherry
We do not consider what we do inside temples to be "secret", it is "sacred". There is a big difference. We believe that all worthy members of the church should attend the temple regularly. There are certain things that we must do to maintain that worthiness. For example, we must be honest in our dealings with our fellow men. We must obey the word of wisdom. We must have a testimony (or belief) that Jesus Christ is our savior, and that he died for us and thru his atonement we can return to heaven. Show more Show less
