Hi I'm Loni!

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am in my late twenties and an artist in training. By day I nanny and by night I paint. I love unifying colors together to create a recognizable and socially linking image.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I learned that it is true! "What's true?" The gospel taught in the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. There is a God. He is our Heavenly Father. There is a Savior. His name is Jesus Christ. He helps us to achieve peace & happiness in this life & exaltation in the next. What led me to desire truth? A few scriptures: 1 John 4:1 which states "believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God." In John 7:17 Christ states, " If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself," and that other one about working out your own salvation. I did just that. I went to church and had an amazing feeling, especially about Jesus Christ. He was exactly what I hadn't realized I was looking for. The Book of Mormon also gave some advice after one reads the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:3-5, which tells us that after reading, receiving &pondering these things in our hearts that we ask God, in the name of Christ..."if these things are not true.." & that he would manifest an answer by the power of the Holy Ghost, & that we would be able to know all truth by the power of the Holy Ghost. I read, went to church, & prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true. If the book was true then it was ALL true. I got a witness from the Holy Ghost when i was prepared & ready. It felt sweet. I had no idea God could answer questions so clearly. I love it. God loves me & so does his Son, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

By laughing, being myself and striving to hear and follow the spirit of the Lord. But really, I enjoy meeting the new faces that come into the congregation, offering support where and when appropriate and delivering the news of activities to bring the congregation togther. After all, we are a family of sorts.

Why is it important for us to take care of our bodies? Why are our bodies called temples of God in the Bible?

Our bodies are a gift from God and were meant to be taken care of. Our bodies help us enjoy so many experiences in life. Why wouldn't we want to show our gratitude by exercising it and nourishing it. Wow, sounds like a domesticated animal.  Our bodies are called temples of God in the Bible because they were given by God! A temple on Earth is a house of the Lord. His spirit flourishes there abundantly. It is supreme, clean and divine. What a wonderful analogy on how to treat one's body. Keep it supreme, clean and divine. However, there are other benefits than just a healthy body. There are spiritual benefits. In the temple one can elevate to a higher spiritual realm and receive revelation. As we are clean and are open to receiving these rewards, one can receive more of the spirit of the Lord in their lives. We can house that type of spirit in our lives if our bodies are clean and maintained. The Lord has brought forth a law of health or commandment called the Word of Wisdom to instruct us. What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a book written by men called of God to be prophets. It is much like the Bible, in that it testifies of Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father's plan of happiness for us. The main difference is that the locations of the events are different. The Bible's contents remain in the middle East area/Jerusalem/Egypt/Etc, while the Book of Mormon's contents take place in Jerusalem for a short period of time and then for the majority of time in the Americas. It was written between 600 BC to 400 AD and saved until we were ready to receive their words of the prophets in the Americas. Many people do not have a testimony of the Savior. This is added evidence to confirm his appearance and mission in our lives. It is also the best way to find out of the Church of Jesus Christ is true! Show more Show less

Why do Mormons baptize their new members?

Baptism is the entrance ordinance of the church. When investigating the church, one must give a outward expression of his inward commitment to be a part of the Lord's church, hence baptism. However, there are loads of other reasons as well! Baptism is a commandment of God and must be performed by one who holds the authority from God to do so. Jesus Christ showed the importance of the obedience to this commandment, as well as the authority in which it is performed. He was baptized and traveled many miles to John the Baptist, who held that authority from God. Baptism cleanses us of sin and prepares us for the next step, which is to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
