Hi I'm Dion

I grew up on a cattle ranch and farm in eastern Oregon. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a cattle ranch in eastern Oregon, but after attending college, decided ranching wasn't for me. I've spent most of my career in the Aerospace Industry working for a Fortune 100 company. Since graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, I decided to return to school and also get an MBA, focusing on International Business. My wife and I have 3 children - 2 married and a senior in high school. One of the great family experiences we cherish, from a few years ago, was living in Singapore for 5 years. We met some really wonderful people from around the world, many whom we are still friends with now, and stay in regular contact with. Through my career in Aerospace, I've traveled and/or done business in over 45 countries around the world from Tokyo to London, Dubai to Sydney, Sao Paulo to Cairo and many other not so popular locations. I'm fascinated with the people and cultures all over the earth, but I especially love the experiences I've had in Asia.

Why I am a Mormon

I love the way my church focuses on the family. We believe families can be an eternal unit that extends beyond death. There are many challenges in raising kids these days and I'm so glad my wife and I had the church, and all of the programs that support quality family life, to help us along the way. I believe our Heavenly Father loves me and my family and wants us to return to live with Him someday. In my youth, I decided to serve a mission for 2 years. During this time I grew to love the holy scriptures and the truths contained in the Bible - both Old and New Testaments - as they testify of and teach of Jesus Christ. I also read and studied other scriptural accounts of Jesus Christ's mission as contained in the Book of Mormon and other modern scriptures. During that time, I also met and talked with many people of other faiths. While I appreciate that all religions contain truth, I've found the most Light and Truth through studying and trying to live the principles contained in the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

My wife and I have moved many times over the past 30 years of marriage, including living in Asia. No matter where we have lived, we have found a welcoming community of Mormons who also love the Lord and are striving to become the best they can be. The ideals of the church help us to become better people and live life to the fullest. I've also had the opportunity to serve others in the community and church by teaching classes, organizing youth activites, counseling and volunteering.
