Hi I'm Mark

And I'm trying to be like Jesus.

About Me

I am a lucky husband and father of five fabulous friends. I live on a beautiful Island where I work as a public servant trying to make it the best place to live, work and play. I enjoy nature, learning, computers, genealogy and family times.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents joined the Church before I was born and raised me with love to believe in God and His son, Jesus Christ. My goodly parents taught me by example and by precept about the plan of salvation, the purpose of life, and how to find happiness. I believed what I was taught and joined the Chruch at the tender age of 8 years old. In hindsight, I knew only the smallest part of what I know today. Nevertheless, from decades of learning and trying to live the gospel, I find that as I strive to follow the Savior's teachings and example, I find greater peace and joy in my life. In short, it works for me.

How I live my faith

I study the life of Jesus Christ frequently and try to do what I think he would do in any given situation. I don't always have the courage and conviction to do it, but with age and experience, I know that I am making progress. Although the world is a much different place today than when the Savior walked the earth, his teachings are timeless. I find that as I learn of him, I love him more and more, and want to be like him. I also find greater and great peace in my life as I do this.

Why is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints called Mormons or Mormonism?

The Church is often refered to as "the Mormon Church". This is because of our belief in the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ". The proper name of the church, however, is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly. It is a Book of books written by inspired men in the old world. We believe it is Holy Scripture but we do not believe it contains all of the inspired teachings. The Apostle John concluded his record by noting "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen" Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe is the purpose of life?

Mormons believe that the purpose of life is to have lasting peace and joy. We do this as we gain a physical body, exercise agency and learn to choose between good and evil, learn and gain experiences, and form lasting family relationships. Show more Show less
