Hi I'm Lindsay

I grew up in California and now live in freezing Minnesota and love it, I'm a substitute teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a substitute teacher and wife. My husband and I have moved around the country for the past four years for his work - we've lived in Utah, Virginia, Texas, and Minnesota. I ran track throughout high school and then ran a little in college. I did sprints and hurdles and loved it. Now I run longer distances to stay active. I love reading and when I start a good book I can't seem to put it down until I finish. One of my favorites, besides the Book of Mormon is Anne of Green Gables. I read it as a teenager and fell in love with Anne's fun and dramatic personality. I enjoy watching movies with my husband after a long week. I also love the outdoors. I love to hike, go on bike rides, and go to the beach (although now living in Minnesota I have a different definition of what the beach is). This past summer we started wake boarding and wake skating and loved every minute of it.

Why I am a Mormon

Both of my parents are Mormon so I was born into the church. I was baptized when I was 8 years old and remember being very excited. At first I attended church each Sunday because it was what my family did. However, over the years I began to attend for myself. I didn't have one big "ah-ha" moment where I suddenly realized the church was true, but it was slow and over time my testimony grew. I began to realize that when I went to church and followed the commandments I was happy. Because it made me happy I continued to do those things. I then began to learn more and study the scriptures (the Bible and Book of Mormon). Through church, church activities, Family Home Evening, family scripture study, and my own reading I gained a testimony of the church and of the Book of Mormon. As I have grown older my testimony has strengthened and deepened through the experiences I have faced. I still feel happy as I live righteously and am obedient to the commandments, however I also know so much more. I know that Book of Mormon is the word of God without a doubt, I know that we have a living prophet on the earth, President Thomas S. Monson, I know that Joseph Smith saw God and Christ, restored the Christ's church on earth, and translated the Book of Mormon, I know that Christ lives and loves each of us. My testimony of these things is what has gotten me through the difficult struggles and challenges that this life brings.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith each day. I try to be honest in my daily life and look for opportunities to help those around me. I attend church each Sunday and teach the 7 and 8 year olds where I am able to teach them about the gospel. I also have the opportunity to visit other ladies in my congregation once a month to see how they are doing, if I can help in anyway and hopefully leave them feeling uplifted. My husband and I volunteer to work in the temple three times a month and we love being able to go to the temple so frequently.
