Hi I'm Dave

I'm a Mormon who lives in Anchorage, Alaska.

About Me

I am married and have four children. I love sports, especially football and hockey. I've coached youth football and I work with Boy Scouts.

Why I am a Mormon

The fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ is a great blessing to me and my family. I have developed a personal relationship with my Savior through my personal study and prayer. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have the opporunity to serve others as the Savior taught. Through the constant companionship of the Holy Ghost I am prompted how to help others and make decisions on how I can bless others lives on a daily basis. Through those same promptings as a father and husband I respond to the needs of my family and wife with greater understanding and love. I always know what my priorities are because I am guided to focus on them each day. I also know we have a living modern day prophet to help us and guide us. These simple things help me keep focus on what is most important in my life.

How I live my faith

One of the most important things I do is to attend church each Sunday with my family.  I accept assignments to help the efforts of the church and volunteer my time to help others. I ensure that my family has weekly family home evenings so that the gospel of Jesus Christ is not just taught at church. I partner with my wife to actively teach our family the scripture accounts of the Savior from the Bible and Book of Mormon through daily family scripture study.

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

The simple answer is yes! Jesus Christ has given men on earth the power to ensure that marriages and family can be more than an earthly arrangement. The greatest blessing I have is the companionship of my wife. She is my friend and partner in all things. We have a family together where we work to create strong bonds of love and friendship with our children. We know that our family relationships and marriage partnership will endure beyond this life. I look forward to continuing that bond of friendship and partnership with my wife through the eternities. I also look forward to growing that relationship with my children as they grow, get married and create families of their own that will endure beyond the time we are here on earth together. I know we will continue that relationship and friendship after death. That does not mean we are a perfect family. We have our challenges but we have a vision of the forever nature of the family that helps us focus on what is important. Show more Show less

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The greatest act of love ever completed on this earth was the gift of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. His willingness to suffer the pains, guilt, remorse and all other types of suffering experienced by all on this earth allows us the great gift of repentance and healing. Healing of our our hearts and minds brings peace through the gift of the Atonement. He suffered these things so we would not need to suffer once we open our hearts to Him and follow His example. No other mortal could provide this gift to us. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, was able to suffer these things for us to allow us to be free from emotional strife, mental pain and bad choices so we can experience peace with Him in this life and the next. He asks us to simply "Come unto me" to receive this wonderful gift of love. Show more Show less
