Hi I'm Suzanne

I'm a new mom... and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm 23 years old. I have been married for 2 years, and my husband and I just welcomed our first child into the world! I am a registered nurse, but am taking some time off from work to stay home with my son. My husband is a full-time college student and part-time maintenance worker. We are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and our faith has blessed our lives in countless ways.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in another faith, and came to know the church through my boyfriend (who later became my husband). When I started meeting with the missionaries I wasn't sure what to think about their message, but the more I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it's truthfulness, I found myself learning more and more about the Savior and developing a better relationship with Him. I made the decision to be baptized in March 2008, and it has brought amazing blessings to my life. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Savior's true church restored in it's fulness, and the Book of Mormon contains a powerful testimony of Jesus Christ and His love for us.

How I live my faith

My husband and I have found a second home at the small branch near his college. We love serving our brothers and sisters, and feel very blessed to be a part of such a close faith community. I work primarily with the young women in the branch, teaching them and organizing activities. My husband and I are also involved with the young single adults in the branch (mostly college students). We organize Monday night activities for them and serve as co-treasurers for our University's LDS (or "mormon") student organization. We have made many great friends by serving in the church, and feel like the church is our "home away from home."

Are Mormons Christians?

Mormons are absolutely Christians. We only worship God the Father and Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ was the Son of the Living God, and he came to Earth to suffer and die for our sins. It is because of this Atonement that we can be "saved." We believe that after Jesus Christ and his apostles died, His true Gospel was lost from the Earth. It was restored when Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and reorganized Christ's true church. The Book of Mormon testifies of Christ and His role in our lives. It has helped me to develop a deeper and more meaningful relationship with my Savior as well as my family and myself. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

It may sound unreal, but I do. Our Heavenly Father loves us so much that he has given us prophets throughout history to lead us and guide us in doing His will. I believe that God lives, He still loves us, and he wouldn't leave us without prophetic guidance meant specifically for us. I know that Thomas S. Monson is a true prophet of God and I have been truly blessed in my life by following his counsel (such as serving others, attending church meetings, praying daily, being grateful, and having a positive attitude).
