Hi I'm Matthew Street

I believe in God. I believe in happiness. I love my family. I love my country. I'm like you and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a single 22 year old college student who loves every aspect of life. Currently I'm majoring in human biology in preparation to become a physician assistant. When not overwhelmed with homework, I love to do anything outdoors like soccer, hiking, snowboarding, swimming. Also playing board games, reading books or watching a movie indoors with my family or friends is awesome too.

Why I am a Mormon

I had to know for myself that this church was true rather than just believing on my parent's word. Being born into a Mormon family, my parents taught me what they believe but I always had the freedom to believe and do as I wished they just guided me until I found out, for myself, what they already knew. When I was 16 I really started looking for the truth through prayer and scripture study. One day I was singing a church hymn in an auditorium filled with other Mormon kids when a warm feeling filled my entire body frame that I had never felt before. Through this experience I know that God does answer prayers if we are willing to to ask him. Now I know for myself that this church is true because of an answer from God.

How I live my faith

During school I take my regular classes to help me major in human biology, but I also take religion classes that focus around the life of our Savior Jesus Christ. On Sundays I attend church on campus with my college peers who are also Mormons. My responsibility in the church for the moment is helping members make appointments with the pastor. It requires lots of time with the pastor helping him make sure that everything is on track.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Matthew Street
A statement of our faith says, "We believe the Bible to be the word of God, as far as it is translated correctly...". Truly the Bible is a sacred record that contains important information to help us live a happy and healthy life spiritually and temporally. Most importantly it also speaks of the life of the Messiah Jesus Christ. Without the Bible we would be missing a lot of his life story as well as his teaching of the gospel. So with this marvelous word of God, that was written by ancient prophets, we gain great knowledge on how Christ gave his life up for us, so that we might be able to live again with our Heavenly Father.  Show more Show less

Who wrote the Book of Mormon?

Matthew Street
The Booke of Mormon is another Testament to the life and ministry of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It was written by the ancient inhabitants of the America lands. Because they too are children of God, our Father in Heaven saw fit to bless them with prophets and teachers who taught them about Christ. They recorded what was taught and pass it down to educate their kids. As time went on they rejected the prophets and enter into an apostasy, or turning away from the Savior. However these records were still saved. In the 1820 a boy named Joseph Smith was shown where these records were by the last prophet of these people, named Moroni. He, Joseph Smith was order by God to translate these scriptures and did so through God's power. That is what we call the Book of Mormon. Show more Show less
