Hi I'm Becky

I grew up in California then went to BYU. I have lived in 11 states. I love being active and fit. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 9 children and grandmother of 31. My husband passed away 10 years ago. After that I went back to college and earned a Master's Degree in Physical Education. Since I was a young girl sports have been my passion. I still enjoy volleyball, racquetball, tennis, ping pong, jogging and walking. Eating delicious and nutritious foods are very important to me. I love playing strategy type games like Cities and Knights and Acquire. They help keep my brain active and make me think. I also enjoy reading, Sudoku, getting to know people, and shopping. I love sunshine and warm weather. My favorite places to visit are Hawaii and Disneyworld.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know my Savior lives and that He loves me. He came to earth over 2,000 years ago to: establish His Church; teach us correct principles; atone for our sins, sorrows and transgressions; and to be resurrected. He did all of this because He loves each one of us and wants us to return to Him and our Father in Heaven. He is my Redeemer and my Savior. He is my exemplar in every way and, as imperfect as I am, I try to be more like Him each day. Even when things in my life don't always go the way I would want them to, I can feel peace knowing that He is here and has sent the Holy Ghost to comfort me. I have a testimony of these things and I know Joseph Smith was a Latter Day Prophet. When Joseph was only 14 years old, he sincerely and fervently prayed to find that truth and received a visit from our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, His son. Joseph Smith was able to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ, which had been taken from the earth. This restoration of the Savior's Church is now back in it's fullness and we have a living prophet today, President Thomas M. Monson. I have had a burning in my bosom and felt immense peace in my whole being as to the truth of these things. My life is so full and rich because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I am active in sending emails to congressmen and congresswomen on important issues. In the past I have had the opportunity be on boards where the members go to state legislators and discuss critical issues. I have helped on a high school booster club, coached little league baseball and basketball teams, helped in my children's classrooms, and have been the parent representative that organized our elementary school drug awareness week. The Church gives it's members many opportunities to serve in different capacities. For instance, my current calling in the Church is Provident Living Specialist which means I try to help the members learn to be more frugal in purchases, develop mental strength, save money, and prepare for emergencies by storing food and water supplies. Through these Church callings I have had many opportunities throughout the years to coach and organize women and teenage girls in basketball, volleyball, and softball. Also, I have helped organize many activities for the youth and ladies in our church such as fitness programs, a visit to our welfare facility, quilting, service projects, training sports officials, teaching classes, etc. We women have wonderful calling to visit other women in their homes. We can find out how they are, see if they need any help, laugh and talk together, and to leave a message of love and encouragement.

What is the purpose of the welfare services of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?

The welfare services in our church help people all over the world to have improved living conditions. As an example, when there are disasters throughout the world we are able to send in water, food, blankets, toiletries, and other necessary items for the disaster victims. The church welfare services also helps members who are suffering setbacks and need short time assistance in necessities. Show more Show less
