Hi I'm John

Born in Michigan, found the peace and joy of the gospel in New Mexico when I was 34. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Our family of 4 moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1971 and started a successful jewelry business. In 1977 we were introduced to two young men that brought a message about Christ that changed our lives. A year later we sold the business and moved to Little Rock working for a children's home. Two years later we added 5 more children to our family and a short time later moved back to Michigan. Because of the Joy that we found in the Gospel, we decided to serve a mission as soon as our children left home and found many friends in Argentina and Dominican Republic during our missions. We now find great Joy and fulfillment working in the temple in Orlando, FL.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a good Christian home and learned much about the Gospel when I was young. As I grew older, I became unsatisfied with what I seen happening in the church and found other things to do on Sunday. We became acquainted with some neighbors who were different. When they asked if we would like to talk to the missionaries, my wife wanted to accept the offer, so I tagged along. During the second discussion, I had a visit of the Holy Ghost that I will never forget and I haven't had a doubt in my mind since then (1977) that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is in deed the restored church of Jesus Christ on the earth today. This blessing has brought me happiness and peace in my life that I had no idea existed in mortality and I am most grateful to those wonderful neighbors.

How I live my faith

I find that living as a disciple of Christ gives real purpose in my life as I give service. The Lord has blessed me to be able to learn many things. My wife and I served a short mission on the Church Ranch in Florida where we went for 3 months to help with housing maintenance. After about 1 month we were asked if we would like to help raise shrimp. What, shrimp on a cow ranch in the middle of Florida? Yes and we learned a lot and raised some delicious shrimp. That 3 months turned into 3 years and we loved every minute of it. The Lord has been very kind to us and we love to share these talents with others.
