Hi I'm Daina

I am who I am and I am a Mormon!

About Me

It's always hard to know what to write in these kinds of things. I am a wife and mother of three beautiful children. My oldest daughter is almost 11, I have a 7 year old daughter and an almost one year old son. Yes there is quite a spread between the seven and one year old. We tried for a very long time and didn't think we would ever have anymore, but the Lord always has a plan and we were very surprised when we found out we were expecting! But that isn't all there is to me. Right now I am a by choice stay at home mom, I do have a college degree in Pyschology, which has come in handy raising children. I look forward to some day going on to get my Masters degree and having a career outside the home. I feel very fortunate to be able to stay at home with my kids, I know for some it isn't always possible, but we make sacrifices other places so that I can be at home with them. One of my great loves in life is to run and exercise. I get a great sense of calm from it and it is cheaper than therapy! Seriously though, it helps me to clear my head, it gives me time for thought and reflection. Helps me to focus and bonus it keeps me in shape! I will be running in my first organized half marathon in a few weeks and am very excited about that. I have a love and talent for the visual arts, I love to paint with oil paint and have even sold a few of my pieces, I minored in Art and that is something that I will always enjoy. I would love to when the time is right to pursue this love of mine! I love the outdoors and anything you can do outside. Hiking, swimming, boating, bike riding, kayaking, canoeing. I just love to be outdoors!! Just some little things about me, I love green olives better than chocolate! I am a great listener and love helping people, I love writing in a journal, jumping on the trampoline in the rain with my kids, I love to travel and hope to more of that in the years to come. I guess that is me in a nutshell. Like I said I never know what people might find interesting, but that is me!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was very blessed to be born into a family who was already LDS. My dad met my mom in high school. My mom was not a member of the church, but when they fell in love she made the choice to join the church because she knew it would be difficult to raise a family with more than one faith. This is how I came to be Mormon, but this is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I want to be. I have always known that this was Jesus Christ's church, I came to know this on my own through personal study of the scriptures and much prayer! I know that Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers. I have a testimony of the Prophet Joseph Smith. If you know anything about his life and what he went through, there isn't a doubt in my mind that he saw what he saw and that he translated the Book of Mormon. Why else would he have suffered all that he suffered. Who would go through something like that for something that wasn't true. I have had personal witness from the Holy Ghost of this fact. I have lived my life according to my testimony in this church, I have enjoyed great happiness even in times of great personal struggle all because I know that I am a child of God. I know that I will be able to be with my family forever. Because of the Atonement of my Savior Jesus Christ, I know that I can repent of my sins and I can keep moving forward, learning, progressing and trying to be the best that I can be.

How I live my faith

For starters I read my scriptures and pray every day, sometimes more than once, we live in a very tough world that only seems to be getting worse and I need that extra boost everyday to feel uplifted and to give me strength I along with my family go to church every week, I attend the temple when I can. I have the opportunity to serve within the church and at the moment I get to be the Activity Day Girls leader, Activity days is somewhat equivalent to the girl scout program, we have activities intended to strengthen these young girls beliefs as well as helping them gain confidence in themselves. It is also a chance for these young girls to learn to serve others. I really enjoy working with the youth. In our home we have regular family time usually on Monday nights where we spend time talking, learning more about what we believe. Sometimes, we play games, go hiking or biking. In the summer we love spending time together at the pool. We just enjoy the time we have together. I love my family more than anything and we really work hard to help our children know that spending time together is really important! I try very hard to be kind to everyone, I believe that to Love and Serve others is to Love and Serve our Heavenly Father. I love to serve within the community. Right now I work with the PTA at my children's school because I want to be able to help strengthen the schools! When opporunity is there I love to help out wherever I can!
