Hi I'm Mark

I'm a Husband, Father, Grandfather and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been married to my best friend for over 34 years and we have 5 wonderful children and 6 grandchildren. I spent 32 years as a firefighter and loved my job. My hobbies have always been hunting, fishing, motorcycles, and now the bagpipe.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon. My Mother's side of the family has a long history in the Church; Pioneers that crossed the plains and settled in Utah. My Father is a convert and the first member on his side of the family. Like all youth, I found myself at a place that I needed to know if the Church was true. As I desired and worked to find the truth, the Holy Spirit witnessed to me of the Savior's great love for me and of the truthfullness of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. At the age of 19, I then served as a missionary and brought this message to all who would hear. Upon returning from my mission, I was blessed to find my best friend, and we were married for Time and all Eternity. She has helped me to stay focused and close to my Heavenly Father as we have raised our family. It has not always been easy for me to live as a Mormon. Throughout my youth and adult life there have been many opportunities to stray from the teaching of Christ and gain acceptance of the world. But no temporary earthly pleasure has been worth the blessings that come from abiding by the teachings of the Savior. I have a testimony of our Savior's great love for us. He knows us better than anyone else and still loves us more than any other. He has said, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light". This only comes as we surrender our natural tendencies and do the will of the Lord. I testify, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored in modern times and that the Lord does speak to prophets, today as he did in ancient times. And that the sacrifice of our Savior is the most important event in history. Because of His great love for us, He has suffered for all sin, agony and pain. What we must do is to trust Him and demonstrate faith through obedience to His commandments. In this way we can make the Savior's atonement effective in our lives and return once again to live with Him. This gift is something that I can never repay and I will always be eternally greatful for.

How I live my faith

For the last 33 years I have served in my community as a firefighter and now as a member of the Fire Board of Directors. During this time I have been active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As an active member of the Church I have always had a calling that allowed me to serve the Lord. Some of the most memorable service in the Church has been in the Boy Scouting Program. As a youth, the Boy Scouts created some of my best memories and my hope was to pass this on to next generation. Scout Camp, 50 mile hikes, community service, and the association of dedicated adult volunteers and inspiring youth, have made it all worthwhile. It seems like I always have been and always will be a Boy Scout. I now continue to serve with the youth and to help them and their parents deal with the challenges that we all face every day.
