Hi I'm Jesika

I love date nights with my husband. I love to play with my children. I am in awe of God's creations. And I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother, a sister, a daughter, a friend. I love to run, to cook, to dance, to teach, to read, and most of all I love being with my husband. I work each day to love my life, to love others, and to learn more about the love my Savior Jesus Christ has for me. Life definitely isn't easy, but it is amazing how with the gospel of Jesus Christ I have purpose and direction. Raising small children has its moments, and I, not being born with patience, am seeing what a miracle it is that we can aquire characteristics and develop personality traits with our Savior's help!

Why I am a Mormon

First and foremost I asked for myself. I read the scriptures and pray and have received answers to my questions. But perhaps more than that, is I have seen "it" work. My father came from a home where things like family scripture study and family prayer weren't done. He watched his siblings who didn't live the gospel experience really hard things because of bad choices. When he started his family he listened to President Benson speak of the promises to a family who does these things, and how it will bless the home and the lives of each individual. So he tried an experiment. From the time I was young my parents led us in family scripture study (at 6 AM!), family prayer, family dinners, father's interviews, and family home evening. Great blessings have come as they have been diligent in living the gospel of Jesus Christ and teaching us to do so. Now with my own young family I notice a difference in our home when we do those things. My children seem more confident, they understand who they are and have desires to be kind to others. I have just seen so many of examples of how living this way is the best. Especially in the world we live in I am SO grateful to have this knowledge and direction for my family. When there is so much out there that speaks to "finding happiness," this is the only thing I have found that truly fills my soul with joy.

How I live my faith

In the scriptures we are taught to, "pray always..." (Ephesians 6:18) I didn't adequately understand this verse until I became a mother. Being in a position like this where I have no previous training, the only way I can make it is to pray always. Sometimes vocally, sometimes in tears, and sometimes just silently in my heart. I have learned that he knows my children better than I do. He knows what they need and how they can learn best. But more than just enduring the daily grind of motherhood, he can help me enjoy the journey. Help me laugh and joke with my children when they make a huge mess. Help heal my broken heart when they make bad choices. Help guide me to those things that will bring love into our home. And it is through this "praying always" that I can know too which other of his children need my help and how I can be a light wherever I am. I am not perfect in my motherhood or in serving others, but I am so grateful that HE IS. And he can guide me. It is a beautiful thing.
