Hi I'm Jennifer

I live in sunny California, and have been blessed with a cheerful outlook. My joyful life is defined by my faith.

About Me

I was raised in a large, joyful family, and married a man who was raised in a large, joyful family. Together we have had the privilege of raising a small, joyful family. My husband and I made the decision early on that I would manage the home while he works, and I absolutely adore my job. What a blessing it is. I not only love my three children, I LIKE my children. I want to spend as much time as possible by their side. I am a certified designer of interiors and flowers, as well as food, clothing, dioramas and science displays. I strive to make my home a beautiful, whimsical, comfortable haven for my family and friends. A place where the Spirit can dwell. Another love of mine is music. I sing and play keyboards in a rock band. Music fills my soul. I also enjoy singing in choirs, performing in church productions, and harmonizing with my daughter at the piano. I believe in fostering this love of music with my children, even as they beg me to stop singing (and dancing) in the car, and at stoplights, and especially in front of their friends. Additionally, while not doing ANY of the above, I will immerse myself in a book of historical fiction.

Why I am a Mormon

You could assume that I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because my parents are members, and because their parents were members. But not all of my siblings followed their path. I, however, recognize that I have always been blessed with a gift spoken of by Paul in Corinthians 12 - the gift of faith - to never question the existence of God, our Heavenly Father, and His son, Jesus Christ. The gospel of Jesus Christ has always simply made sense to me. I know that my Heavenly Father loves me. I know that he knows me; he knows my name and he is rooting for me. I know he sent His son, Jesus Christ to the earth to teach the people, to establish the gospel, and to give the ultimate sacrifice - His life. He paid for our sins. He paid for MY sins. He loves me so much that He shed His blood in the Garden of Gethsemane. I cannot begin to understand the pain and suffering He endured. I can, however, turn to Him when I am lonely, or when I am embarrassed, or when I am hurt, or ashamed, or overwhelmed, or physically in pain, and KNOW that HE understands. And since I am an unclean thing, I cannot dwell with my Father in the next life - this is why the Plan is perfect. Christ made up the difference with His blood. I am perfect when joined with Him, my Redeemer, my brother. I also know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. I know he restored this church; he translated the Book of Mormon thru the gift and power of God. What a blessing for us! I also know that we have modern prophets on the earth today. God has not left us alone to figure out our life on this earth, thank goodness. With God, with Christ, and the Holy Spirit by my side, along with the Bible, Book of Mormon, and the words of the prophets, I am well-equipped to handle whatever comes my way. There are many more reasons why I'm a Mormon, but these are by FAR the most important.

How I live my faith

I stated earlier that my life is defined by my faith. I view the world thru a Christian perspective. Therefore, I try to do as the Lord would do. One of the principles He taught was charity/good works/service. I am fortunate to be able to work with the youth of our congregation. I teach and plan activities for 14 and 15 year-old girls who absolutely light up my life! These are outstanding young women who face the everyday challenges in this corrupt world head-on and without apology. Additionally, I am a cub scout den leader to "spirited" 9 year-old boys who are eager to learn. I volunteer at the school and try to help my neighbors in times of need. It is, however, never enough. My life has been so blessed that I will be forever indebted to my loving Heavenly Father. Additionally, we have such a duty to our children! We try to equip them each day with a shield of faith thru family prayer and scripture study. We aim for appropriate music, movies, television shows, and computer usage, modest dress and language. But truly, living this way comes naturally; it is my "default" setting. I want my every interaction to be cheerful and positive. I want every person with which I come in contact to feel God's love, His hope and His peace.
