Hi I'm Nate

I love my family, my guitar, and my snakeskin boots. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Well, I love to draw. Ever since I could lift a pencil, I've loved to draw. I don't know how many college ruled notebooks have been sacrificed to doodles of robots, cowboys, pirates, volkswagon vans, rock stars, and cute girls that sat in the desk in front of me. So, partly because I didn't learn much else in high school, I decided to study Illustration at BYU, where I currently am. Oh, and music is great too. But I guess everybody loves music, right? Whenever I have time, or sometimes when I don't have the time, I'm noodling out something on my guitar. Maybe someday I'll write a really great song and you'll hear it on the radio or something. My family is awesome...I have a little sister that keeps me in line, and my mom and dad are the best, so I guess I'm pretty lucky, right? Life is good, and consider myself a pretty blessed guy. Oh, and on a random note: I found the best cowboy boots ever at the thrift store the other day. I tell you what, thrift stores are where it's at. If you are a frequent thrift store shopper, you're bound to run into me sometime. Feel free to say hi.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I choose to be. I was born into a Mormon family, and I ran off their religious convictions for quite a while without ever having any of my own. But I guess you could say the time came to make a decision for myself. I wanted to know like my parents knew. Either what they believed in was true or it was false, and I wanted to know which it was. I read and studied one of the most marvelous books in the world, The Book of Mormon. I was sure that once I knew the book was the word of God, I would know that everything else was true as well. I read and prayed, and read and prayed. My unsureness was changed to belief, belief to knowledge, knowledge to conviction. I know the Book of Mormon is true because God answered my sincere, prayerful question. I felt an answer that I cannot deny. Because of this, I know that God loves us and still speaks to us in our days through living prophets. His church is upon the earth once more. Our families can be together for eternity. This knowledge means a lot to me. I know of the truth for myself, as can anyone else that wants to know it.

How I live my faith

I do my best to live the commandments that God has given. It always seems that I am so much happier when I do. I know I will be blessed when I do what He wants. God knows best, right? He does. Anyways, I served for two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brazil Londrina mission. Brazil is fantastic, and I loved it there! I returned to the States in August 2010. I have a calling in my ward as an Assistant Ward Mission Leader, which means that I am still involved in helping other people learn about our faith and what we believe. Sometimes I'll teach a Mission Preparation class in church for people who want to be missionaries. I'm also a hometeacher, which means that I visit other church member's houses every month to check up on them and leave a short spiritual message with them. Serving in Church is very fulfilling and I love it!
