Hi I'm Melanie.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I come from a family of five kids. I have lived in Utah, Illinois, Israel, Costa Rica, and now Mississippi. I have been married for seven years, and I am a children's librarian.

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to go to church and learn the doctrines of the Mormon faith along with my family while I was growing up. Now that I'm an adult, why do I still go to church, believe what I believe, and do what I do? Throughout my life, I have prayed about and tested the gospel message for myself time and time again, and I know that it is true. I have realized that all the teachings of the church help direct us to our Savior, Jesus Christ. When I was a teenager, I came across a scripture in the Bible in 1 John 4:19 that has become my personal favorite: "We love him, because he first loved us." The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches me to know the Savior, know what he did for us, and love Him. The Church has given me the knowledge of God's plan for me and prepares me to be able to return to Him someday.

How I live my faith

I try to follow the Savior's example and be kind to those around me. I believe that sometimes God uses us to help others, so when I get the feeling that someone needs me, I try to do it! I often visit or call people and make sure they are okay. I get to teach the gospel to the teenage girls at church and also plan weekly uplifting activities for them. I pray and read the scriptures. I go to church each week so that I can remember the Savior and learn more about His gospel.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Absolutely! We have a prophet on the earth today, and his name is Thomas S. Monson. The fact that God has given us a prophet to guide and direct has always been something that has struck a chord with me. It shows me how much God loves us and how much He wants us to return to Him. Show more Show less
