Hi I'm Sam

I live in Colorado. I'm a tennis player, I'm a violist, and I'm an accountant. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a busy husband, father, and working professional. I'm always trying to keep up with the demands of my career in public accounting while balancing that with my biggest priority: my family. When I can, I love to squeeze in time for some other things I love, including playing tennis and playing my viola. I've played the viola since I was in fourth grade, I played in the BYU Philharmonic orchestra all through college, and now I participate in a community orchestra. I also love to play the guitar and piano, and I listen to all different styles of music. For as long as I can remember, I've always loved sports. According to my mom, "ball" was one of my first words. From t-ball and youth basketball to intramural college soccer and tennis tournaments, I've enjoyed all kinds of fun, athletic competition over the years. Though I love all those things, the one thing that is most important to me is family. I have a wife and a daughter, and there's nothing I'd rather do than spend time with them. I'm so blessed with the knowledge that families can be sealed for eternity!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised by a loving, nurturing family, and I grew up going to the LDS church. I plan on continuing to participate in the church and striving to pattern my life on the the teachings of the Savior for the rest of my life. I'm a Mormon because I have prayed and received a witness that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, and that he was called to restore parts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that had been lost. I believe the church is guided and directed by a prophet today. I believe that living in accordance with the teachings of Christ and living up to the covenants I've made with God as a member of this church is what brings me true happiness and peace in this life. It is also what will allow me to return to my Father in Heaven and live with my family for eternity.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as a nursery teacher in my ward, which is so fun. I get to play with a room full of children (2-3 years old) for most of my time at church each Sunday. Children are amazing examples in so many ways. I think one of the best ways to become a better person is to spend some quality time with young children, giving of yourself to serve them and play with them. The more time I spend doing this, the more I am able to observe and try to emulate their Christlike attributes (See Mosiah 3:19). Outside of church, I love to listen to general conference talks from years past. It's a great way to fill the time during my commute to work!
