Hi I'm Krysta

My heart will always belong in California no matter where I am. Public health is my passion. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am public health educator. I love studying examples of people who "beat the odds" and learning how to help others develop good health habits even in the face of difficult circumstances. I love to travel and to learn new languages and new cultures and try new foods. One of my great loves in life is water polo. I started playing in high school and no matter where I am in the country, the opportunity to play on a water polo team seems to find me.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Gospel of Jesus Christ has given my life purpose and direction at times when I could have been easily swayed by current trends, presuring peers or feelings of deep disappointment. I was one of only two Mormons in my high school and in response to doubt on the part of my friends as well as my own uncertainties, I decided to read the Book of Mormon and pray to really know for myself if the principles I had been taught all of my life were from God. That experience shaped my life thereafter as I knew where I could turn for answers and strength everytime I felt afraid, alone or confused. I knew then and I know today that God answers prayers - because answers mine. I know that God has greater things in store for us than we can presently see - because He has led me to opportunities greater than I could have dreamed. I know that His son, Jesus Christ suffered for our sins and heartaches so we don't have to - because He has lifted burdens from off of my shoulders that I couldn't and didn't need to bear any longer. I am a Mormon because I feel true joy when I live my faith.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by not giving up when things get hard. My mom would often tell me that I can do hard things and following that counsel has blessed my life so much. Not giving up, I was able to serve a mission for 18 months even though at times the trials seemed too much to bear. Not giving up, I continue to pursue educaiton even though I wonder at times if I will really be able to make a difference in the world. Not giving up, I turn to the Lord for strength and peace when I don't see how current struggles will help me in the future. I live my faith by helping women around me feel the love of God in their lives and I see and feel that love more abundantly in my life as well.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

One of the greatest blessings I have seen in my life from the gift of the Holy Ghost is peace. When I prayed to know where I should attend college or graduate school, it was that feeling of peace that helped me know the right place for me. When I go through a really hard heartbreak, that feeling of peace lets me know that even though I hurt now and I feel lost or confused, as long as I follow Jesus Christ, I will be OK. When I pray or read the Book of Mormon or serve people around me, that feeling of peace confirms to me that what I am doing is what God wants me to do. In my opinion, peace is the greatest feeling in the world and we can have that blessing through the gift of the Holy Ghost. Show more Show less
