Hi I'm Linda

I grew up in Southern California and have lived in Utah, Washington, Saipan, and Texas.

About Me

Four kids can keep anyone busy. At least my four seem to keep me busy. When my first was born I quite my job as an accountant to take care of him. I thought I would have all kinds of extra time and planned to take piano. What a joke! When asked how she did it, my mom said she just had the older ones help. I grew up in a family with nine children and I still don't know how she did it! I'm so glad she did though because my siblings are truly my best friends. My kids have an extended family who is always a great support. Believe me, now that they are teenagers, family support is very important. Other than my family, I have quite a few interests. I like to use Adobe Photoshop and love to read. I wish I could say that I love to exercise but I don't really. I have gotten better this past year at forcing myself to do it. One of the things that seems to motivate me is that I've met several other people who like to walk at the same time I do. If I can visit along the way, I enjoy it.

Why I am a Mormon

The primary reason I'm Mormon is that I truly believe that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Jesus Christ's organization here on earth and that He speaks directly to His prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and His apostles. I love the knowledge that I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and has provided guidance for me through the Scriptures of ancient times as well as current times. God is God and can speak now as He did in times of old. I have prayed and received a confirmation from the Holy Spirit that this church is His and is lead by those who have been given His priesthood authority. I also know that each person on earth can receive this confirmation from the Holy Spirit. In addition to receiving confirmation from the Holy Spirit of the truthfulness of this church, I have had many experiences of the Holy Spirit helping me with my individual needs and making me aware of others who are in need so that I can be of service to them.

How I live my faith

Right now I teach the 9 and 10 year old class at chuch on Sundays. I love working with the children. I also work with the 8 to 11 year old girls during the week (a little bit like girl scouts but not girl scounts). Each month I make visit to assigned women in the church to help take care of needs they may have. I also have some women who aren't members of my faith who I visit and help out when they need it. I think living your faith is a daily event. When I make mistakes (yes I do, just ask my kids) I repent and try to do better the next time around. Nobody is perfect, it is about trying to pattern my life after Christ's example.

Why are only some Mormons allowed into temples? Is there something secret going on in Mormon Temples? What goes on in Mormon Temples?

Linda
I think of the temple as a sacred place, not a secret place. It is where we go to make additional covenants beyond the baptisimal covenants with our Heavenly Father. For example, marriage is a covenant. From the day we are married God is part of that union. Because the temple is a sacred place, Heavenly Father has required that those entering the temple are ready to make and keep those sacred covenants. Any member of a year or more(there would be no reason to make additional covenants if one wasn't first baptized) and at least 12 years old who is interviewed and committed to following thier baptisimal covenants is allowed to enter the temple.
