Hi I'm Jeff

I grew up as a member of the Catholic Church in Maine. I met the missionaries at age 19 and now I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and we have 4 grown children and 3 grandchildren. I enjoy hiking, biking and reading. I am a licensed amateur radio operator and enjoy talking with people of other countries by short wave radio. Professionally I am a certified project manager and six sigma black belt and I lead teams to design business processes.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 19 I lived in Maine, USA and had been listening to a radio program where the evangelist stated that we could received the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands. He never stated what church he belonged to other than calling himself "full gospel". When I first met the LDS missionaries, one of my first questions was, "Do you know what church has the authority for the laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost?" Looking back on this experience many years later, I'm sure they must have thought I was playing a joke on them. Although the evangelist was not LDS, his terminology and explanation was correct. I did find the church with the authority to give the gift of the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands and it is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I was baptized within 3 months after first meeting the missionaries and have never for one second regretted my decision to join the church. I testify that it is truly the Lord's church on the earth and it has been restored to the earth through the prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. in the 1800's. We are blessed to live in a day when the fullness of the gospel is available to everyone on the earth.

How I live my faith

I currently serve on a council at the regional level (known as a stake) for the church. I often speak during our worship services and teach at various units of the church (known as wards) within our region. I also serve at a nearby church temple 3 days a month. I work full time professionally and serve the church outside of my work schedule.
