Hi I'm Katherine

I'm a Nomad, a Poet, an Artist, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 23 years old and a full time missionary in Arcadia, CA. It's hard work, but the results are absolutly worth it. L.A is beautiful. I took a break from my education, my family, my friends, and my life so that I could draw nearer to God and be his messenger and his voice here on earth so that others could come with me on this journey. I love the humanities. I love to write. I love to create. Oscar Wilde once said we should live "life for art's sake" and I couldn't agree more. My whole life has been one huge course on God's love for his children and the time and effort he puts into each one of us. We are all truly unique and truly beautiful. I've learned how careful God was when he created each of his children and how much thought he put into every aspect of our personalities, interests, and talents. I believe when you let Him, God will show you exactly who he meant for you to be and that you will be able to reach new heights you never could on your own. A hip hop group from Minnesota--Atmosphere--explains it this way: "take off the mask, let it all collapse, empty the pack and watch your wings grow back". We all have wings; but, sometimes we just let life clip them. no matter what they can grow back. I believe in loving yourself and chasing your dreams. I believe that we are all here to do amazing work. I believe that if we give our lives to the LORD he will help us find our place here.  I believe all of our wings will grow back.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because I was born into a mormon family. I was raised by loving parents who taught me and my sister about Jesus Christ and God and helped me gain a testimony and learn about my own strengths and abilities. I stayed mormon once I grew up and moved out because I know I would be lost without the gospel.  I pray every day and search the scriptures for help to carry on when things get hard. I know the LORD knows me and that he has a plan for me. It's hard at times to have faith and trust the LORD but I have seen many times in my life that that is the best way to get on the right path and to start doing the unique work only you can do. My dad recently wrote me a letter and gave me a quote by a past church leader that told us to pray like everything relies on the Lord, and work like everything relies on us. God is there every step of the way, but we have to do our part too.

How I live my faith

I live my faith each day. I pray for help every single day. Sometimes it's major life decisions or major issues with time management and prioritizing but usually it's just the small things like where my lost keys are. I ask for advice, help, and confidence in the person I am becoming. I know God knows what i need in my life and that I only know what I think I want in that moment so I try my best to trust his plan for me. It's hard sometimes, but somehow he always pulls me through. I trust the Lord to take me where I need to be, put the people into my life that I need there, and take away the things that stop me from progressing. I have seen the love God has for his children so many times in my life, and I am grateful that he knows me and loves me.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is a record of ancient people who were faced with struggles and trials just like we are today. By reading it, you can gain strength from their example and learn how to align your life and heart with the Lord in order to get through all that he needs you to in order to be the people he needs you to be.
