Hi I'm Deborah

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Utah and am a wife and mother.

About Me

I'm a wife and mother. I love to be with my husband and children. I love to spend time in the outdoors enjoying God's creations. I enjoy learning new things. Most of my time is spent at home keeping up with all the responsibilites of taking care of a family. It is challenging at times but rewarding to watch our children learn and develop their talents.

Why I am a Mormon

I have chosen to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints because of my testimony. I took the challenge to read the Book of Mormon and pray about it's truthfulness. This experience helped me know that this is the true church on the earth and Jesus Christ is at the head of it. I know the Prophet Joseph Smith restored it and that President Monson is His prophet on the earth today. I once heard another Mormon say that everything good in her life comes from her faith in this church. I feel the same way, that everything good in my life is because of my faith in Jesus Christ. I know that by living the best I can and following the teachings of the church will bring me and those I love happiness and joy.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in the primary organization of the church that teaches children about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I currently teach ten 12 year old girls. I am also a visiting teacher where I visit three women each month in their homes. I also have women who come to visit me each month and I know if I ever needed anything they would be there to lend a hand. I have grown to love many women whom I would otherwise have not had an opportunity to meet. Each of these women have enriched and blessed my life. I also live my faith by supporting my husband in his callings and duties. Together we try to establish a home where Jesus Christ is at the center and we strive to be like him.

What is faith?

Faith is to believe in things we cannot see. An example I once heard was a comparison to the wind. We can feel the wind, but we cannot see it. Likewise faith is something we can feel and know is true, but cannot see. When we choose to have faith in Jesus Christ, then learn about him, our faith will grow as we feel that He is real. In the church we often compare faith to a little seed. When we plant a seed we have faith that it will grow. It is exciting to see a tiny plant start to grow. That is how I feel about faith in Jesus Christ. It is exciting to see faith in Him grow. Show more Show less

What are Mormon women like? Do Mormons believe in equality of men and women?

Mormon women know who they are. They know they are daughters of a loving Heavenly Father. They strive to follow Jesus Christ's example and serve and love others. They are of all walks of life. Some are married, some single, some are in the work force, some stay at home and rear children. These things do not define Mormon women, but their commitment to Jesus Christ and to love and serve others is who they strive to be. Mormons believe men and women have their divine roles. We have been given different roles. You will hear in talks given by leaders of the church that "men are the head of the home, women are the heart of the home." All of these roles and responsibilties are important. Men and women are both important in what their divine roles are. Show more Show less
