Hi I'm Janice

I grew up in Southern California. I love gardening seeing the new growth and beauty that surrounds me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

When my children were small I would volunteer at school so I could see the school environment and know how to help my children succeed in education. My children knew that I'd always be there for them and would love reading to them nightly. As their interests grew to sports, I'd assist with refereeing or otherwise. As college has come and gone for most of them, I'd so pleased with their 4 year college degrees. Enriching life with knowledge through reading and donating my time to worthwhile causes has provided personal growth in my life.

Why I am a Mormon

As I continue to obey the commandments of God, I find great peace within me. Though my life has had and will continue to have difficulties, I know there is a loving Heavenly Father who knows me personally and still Loves Me for how I am. Heavenly Father has provided a way for me to grow spiritually everyday by being obedient to His will. As I follow the counsel of our living prophet Pres. Monson, I see ways that my life is blessed and how I can enrich my daily life by helping others.

How I live my faith

I attend weekly Sunday church meetings with my family. During the month I visit with two other women to assess their needs and strengthen them. Sometimes going more often if needed. Weekly I join with a group of varied aged women to do humanitarian work: such as making cancer patient hats or a lap quilt for a hospital patient, etc. I make an effort to be neighborly with my neighbors and be available when they return from work. Currently in my church ward and with my husband we help with organizing social events for the members outside of Sunday worship. This is quite fun and entertaining for us.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

As human beings we are flawed. We need to be saved from our sinful state. Though we try to be better from day to day we fall short. When we fall short we need to repent. So we can start anew there needs to be someone or something to save us. Since we have committed sin we cannot save ourselves. Someone sinless must be our Savior. From the scriptures we are told about Jesus Christ who was without sin and suffered on the cross for our sins. He, Jesus Christ, can be our Savior if we let Him be. Since our Heavenly Father can not allow the least bit of sin, we must have a sinless mediator who will take our sins (and has paid the price for those sins) so we can go into the presence of our Heavenly Father after this life has ended. Jesus Christ has accepted this role as Savior and it's our choice to have Him be our Savior. This allows us to repent and become better than we were. Show more Show less
