Hi I'm Jake

And I'm a Mormon

About Me

My name is Jake. I am an aspiring film maker, with hopes of working with BYUtv someday. I joined the church in August 2010, when I was 20 years old. It has currently been over five years, and I know for a fact that joining this church, my life has taken a turn for the best. I have a beautiful wife, two little girls, and a baby boy. Though I have my struggles, I still attend church every sunday, and try to go to the Temple as much as I can. I live in the biggest small town in Washington state (Spokane), and have lived here all my life. I try my hardest to be a missionary of sorts to people not of our church, and hope to someday help people change their lives for the best as well.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon not for me, but for those around me. As important as it is to save myself, I really want to be an example to everyone around me. By taking the name of Christ, I have made it my duty to be someone everyone can rely on, and know that I will be a true friend. Forgiving people is not always easy, but the more you forgive, the better you life becomes. I am also a Mormon because I know this church is true. The moment I first met with Missionaries, I felt a sense of comfort, and calmness. And now, over five years later, every sunday when I walk into a church building, I feel the same comfort and calmness. This church has lead me down paths that I know I would not have taken on my own. I know that this church has made my life better all around.

How I live my faith

I am a nursery teacher for my ward. To me, teaching the gospel to children is more important than learning it myself. I have my testimony, however I'd rather see the young members have strong testimonies and live their lives in Christ's name. Outside of church, I strive to be an "off duty missionary." Teaching non-members or answering any legitimate questions anyone has about my church.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes. We are just as much Christians as are the other denominations of Christianity. We believe Jesus Christ is our Savior, and that he is the only begotten son of the Lord. And that it is important to follow his words and actions in order to be saved. Show more Show less

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

No, we do not worship people, or prophets for that matter. The only being we worship is God, the Lord. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

What is being a Mormon like? Hmm, well, to be honest, it's just like being another human being. Really! When I was meeting with Missionaries three years ago, I've quickly noticed that they are no different than I am. The only difference is they go to church every sunday, and I, well, didn't. Being a Mormon does not automatically make you a better person, nor does it guarantee you a spot in Heaven. Being a Mormon is like being a faithful Christian. Living in Christ's name, and teaching the Gospel as Jesus would today. Show more Show less
