Hi I'm J. J.

I grew up in Arizona. I'm a medical student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Arizona with my mom, dad, two younger sisters, and one younger brother. My wife Kimberly and I were married in 2006 and we have a two-year old son. I graduated from college in the Spring of 2008 and started medical school that Fall. I'm currently in my fourth year of medical school. It's hard work, but I'm loving it. I like to ride quads, work on computers, sing, watch movies, and spend time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon. However, there came a point in my life, I would say some time during junior high, when I needed to know for myself if this church was true. It started during a time when my family had some struggles that often caused me wonder if God was there or if He cared about me. I remember praying and asking God if He was there. I remember the peace that came into my heart after praying. The answer didn't come all at once, but I felt like I should trust in the principles I had been taught and continue trying to live them. It was around the time I was in high school that I remember knowing in my heart that this is Jesus Christ's true church. My life has been blessed immensely from living the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

I attend church each week on Sunday with my family. During the first hour we take the sacrament, or communion as other churches call it, in remembrance of the Savior and His sacrifice for us. We listen to talks that have been prepared by other members of the congregation. We then break into classes for the next two hours. Right now I teach the lesson once a month in one of our classes. The lessons are based on fundamental teachings of Jesus Christ, including the scriptures, the life of Jesus Christ, faith, repentance, fasting, etc. I also spend time once a month visiting families and sharing a spiritual message in their home.
