Hi I'm Ane

I'm a Mormon from Norway

About Me

I am currently a stay-at-home mom. My days are filled with housekeeping, playing and finding good activities for both my daughter and myself. I am currently studying business through an internet based bachelor-program. I love dancing. I started ballet when I was six years old and continued with different types of dance until I was 18. I was a part of a dance company performing in a show held annually at my high school. I have done choreography and teaching. Unfortunately being a student doesn't give the needed income to pay for dance-lessons on my part so currently I have to get by by running. It's free. Music is also a very natural part of my life. I play the violin, piano and guitar. At church i've been in several choirs and I have also conducted youth choirs.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a family with rich history in the chruch. Since I was little I've been told stories of my great great grandfather whom with his wife helped establish the church in Norway. It feels somewhat safe for me to know that they knew. Growing up in the church and having the support of close and extended family has been important to me. I have two brothers who taught by example the importance of making good choices. This was especially crutial in my teen years. Because one of my brothers told me that I had to make the decision at that exact point on what sort of friends I would be with and who I wanted to be and become. In Junior High and High School I would be one out of two members of the church attending schools with 300 - 700 students. I learned to be different. And happy to be different. And people around me, students, liked me being different. Since we are not very many members in Norway the question of why I am different or why I choose to be a member often occurs among peers at school and with coworkers. During my early teens I felt the need to be sure. If I could know what was true for sure then it wouldn't be a problem to stand up for what I believe in. I would spend early mornings and evenings to study the scriptures. I would attend church and church activities. I had always felt good when going to church but I knew that I needed a strong testimony. I did get my answers. God would help me when I was feeling down. When people asked me questions about the gospel God would help me find the answers. The gospel made me feel happy. And it is because of the protection, help and love from God that I am a Mormon. It is because it makes me more happy that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I try my best to study the scriptures each day. I have found that it gives me so much peace and keeps me going through each day. And it is the best way for me to prepare for lessons in church and to teach my children.

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Ane
I remember that when it was announced that Thomas S.Monson was called to be the prophet on earth today I felt a strong peace and surety that this was the man that God had appointed to be his spokesman. I remember feeling much joy and overwhelming love. Show more Show less
