Hi I'm Julie

I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister, grandmother, friend, nurse, runner and I'm a mormon

About Me

My husband and I have been married 28 years. Together we have raised 4 boys and a girl. Two of them are now married and we have 4 grandsons, which are the cutest kids ever. I have been a registered nurse for 16 years and I recently received my Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Last June I was able to run the Seattle Rock-n-Roll 1/2 marathon with my 4 boys, it was an awesome experience. My boys all finished way ahead of me, but that's why I love running, it's not about where you finish in relation to someone else, it's about doing better this time than you did last time. It helps me remember life is not a competition, but rather it's about me doing my best.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon bacause I know it's right. I know that living the commandments is the only true way to happiness. I know God lives and he loves me, and that he has a plan for me, even if I don't always understand it, or if things don't happen when I think they should. When I don't go to church I feel a tangible difference in my life, I am not as happy, and things just don't go as well. It's that simple.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being working hard to be true to myself and what I know is right. Honesty, integrity, loving, helping and serving others are all important to me, and I want my actions to reflect this.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Julie
Mormon services are 3 hours long, but that is broken up in to 3 parts, so you don't just sit and listen to one person the whole time. The first part everyone is together, it's where we take the sacrament and renew the promises we made at baptism. The last two hours are broken down in to classes by age. The young children will sing songs, have activites and lessons on basic principles. The teenagers and older adults have Sunday School the second hour, which is where we learn about scriptures. The third part the teenagers, men and women separate into groups (called relief society for the women and priesthood for the men) and learn about principles such as honesty, integrity and charity, using the scritpures and teachings from the prophets..
