Hi I'm Kerry

I grew up in California, played soccer on the US team in Europe and am the father of four. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have four wonderful grown children and have been married for 30 years. I graduated from college with a degree in Accounting and Economics and earned an MBA several years thereafter. In my early 20's I served a 2-year mission for the Mormon church in Japan. It was very challenging, but also very rewarding work. I gained a great appreciation for the people of Japan and the diversity of life across the world. I have enjoyed my career in finance/accounting and look forward to using these skills to help others as we all navigate forward in a world mired in debt and excess. I look forward to sharing some of life's goodness with others. I love the outdoors, reading books and adventure. I look forward to exploring and discovering much the world has to offer in the years ahead.

Why I am a Mormon

Since I was a teen, I have always been interested in the spiritual connections of life. From my journey in life I have learned how individual and personal Jesus Christ's sacrifice was, for all of God's children, but also for me. Christ's teachings establish a structure for life that helps ensure immense happiness and peace, amidst the struggles we all face, both large and small. The Savior touches and helps lift my life in my interactions with my wife, children and others. There are moments in life when He seems to be ever so close...birth, death and moments of loneliness or anguish seem to reveal His loving presence in greater abundance. Because I am coming to know Him, I am beginning to know myself and understand my value. These realizations have brought me great joy.

How I live my faith

One of the most rewarding aspects of my faith is the opportunity to share the happiness of Christ's teachings with others. Serving others in an effort to lift and leave the world better than we found it brings me great joy. There is great peace and comfort in my commitment to my wife and family. Together we have grown and learned to lift each other. By serving each other, we have become best friends. Serving others is a way of life in our religion. At church I get to teach some of what I've learned from my study of scripture. As I've learned to apply teachings of the Savior, I have felt growing peace and at times direction; all of which lead me to help lift another. I have come to realize service allows us to not only give, but also receive in greater abundance. The hearts capacity to love is endless. In the beginning, you serve those you love and in the end, you come to really love those you've served. It is a miraculous cycle.

What do Mormons believe about the nature of God?

We believe God is our father, a glorified all knowing and caring being who has a body like ours, but is perfect and glorified in every respect. I have come to understand his nature through experiences I've had with my earthly father, who I love very much. The relationship and love I have nurtured over many years with my earthly father are similar in many respects to the relationship I can have with my Heavenly Father. Like my earthly father, God is kind, loving, understanding and patient. Unlike my earthly father, Heavenly Father is perfect and all knowing. He wants me to return and live with him when my life on this earth is over. Because I have come to understand his nature to be similar in some respects to that of my earthly father, I have come to know Him better as I've learned to share my life with him. As I understand His love better through answered prayers and searching, I have been lead to be a better father to my own children. Therefore, coming to understand God's nature has helped me find greater joy in my efforts as a father. I talk with Heavenly Father morning and night by sharing events of my day with Him in prayer. I share with Him important questions and concerns of my life. I feel of His great love when answers to prayer come...for it reinforces his existence, his awareness of me individually, and gradually has changed my nature and influence with my family and friends to be more like him.
