Hi I'm Amy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a typical college student trying to balance school, work, and friends and fitting sleep in whenever I can. I am studying to be a teacher and I absolutely love it. Helping kid learn gives me a huge sense of fulfillment, and I am excited for the day I get to start teaching for real. I love hiking, and biking, and gardening, and reading, and sleeping, and cooking, and eating, and the list goes on.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because of my faith in Jesus Christ, my redeemer and savior. I have never not been a Mormon, but I know without a doubt that my life would be a greater struggle without the peace and hope that comes with faith in Christ. I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon, pondered and prayed about it, and have come to know that the principals found in that book are the principals that will bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and to Christ. I am a Mormon because I know that am loved by my Heavenly Father, and that he has a perfect plan that, if followed by his children, can only lead to happiness. That He has appointed a prophet to guide his children through the confusion that life can be, and the prophet he has currently appointed is Thomas S. Monson. I love listening to the prophet because I know that  doing the things he says will bring me closer to Christ that anything else.

How I live my faith

I am learning more and more that as we change, faith changes with us. I love God and I live my faith by trying to find His truth. I search for it in the words of the scriptures, in the feelings I have in my heart, and in the words and the kindness of others that are also searching to find and live God's will. I try to live what James describes as pure religion by visiting the widows and the fatherless in their afflictions and trying to keep spotted from the world. (James 1:27) I try to see people as children of a living God that loves them very much and wants them to come back to him. I also live my faith by sharing it. Faith in Christ has sustained me through very difficult circumstances and I wish that everyone could find the inner peace that comes from living His gospel.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is having the knowledge that you are a child of a loving Father in Heaven. It is knowing that Christ lives and has taken upon Himself all of the sins of mankind. It is knowing that the reason for being on here on Earth is to learn and grow and become more like our Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. It is praying and reading scriptures daily so that you can have the Holy Ghost with you to guide you to live in a way that will make God happy. It is going to Church every Sunday so that you can learn and grow from hearing other people's experiences and help them to learn and grow in return. It is trying to keep all of the commandments that have been given to us because we love God, and know that He loves us, so we want to do what he says. It is knowing that we have love and support, and that as we live the best way we know how to, we will be shielded and protected, loved and comforted. The more we feel that kind of peace, the more we want to share it with everyone, and the better we want our best to become. Show more Show less
