Hi I'm Kim

I am a father of 3 beautiful girls and a gorgeous wife, and I am student at University of Idaho.

About Me

Hi I would like to share a few things about me. First I grew up on a potato farm in Southern Idaho. I really truly loved working side by side with my Dad and Brothers and my Grandpa Cook. I learned many of my life lessons from that expierience. When I decided to serve an LDS mission At 23 leaving the farm was the hardest thing for me to do. Also getting on a plane to fly to New York not long after 911, while serving in Rochester and Buffallo I gained a great appreciation for the for the church and for its' mortal founder Joseph Smith Jr. I truly feel that Joseph was truly a prophet of the lord and that Jesus Christ is the Ultimate founder of the LDS church. This knowledge drives me to make decisions every day the will affect my life where others may overlook some of these decisions my background helps me to get the most fullfilment out of life and the most Joy. When I returned from my mission I had my heart set on farming but soon found out that our family was going to lose the farm I was devastated and wondered why God would allow for this thing to happen. Little did I know that if not for the loss of the farm I would have never sought out to return to college. It was here that I found my sweet heart and we have been blessed with 2 wonderful daughters with Daughter number three arriving any day now. Every day I struggle to keep ahead of lifes' twist and turns. I enjoy camping, good movies, and spending time with all my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have felt the influence of God in my life. When I feel the spirit It Comforts warms and enlightens my soul. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the reason that I get up everyday. I have a deep love of the scriptures and I have a deep gratitude and love for the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is an inspired record from God I have felt the witness of the Holy Ghost testify to me that it is true. My testimony did not come speedily but it did come and it is true that faith preceeds the miracle. I also know that Jesus is the Christ and he loves me. This is the greatest reason of all for being a member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, Because it is built upon apostles and prophets Jesus Christ being the chief cornerstone. It is also built upon the rock of revelation spoken of in mathew. What other church has that as a resume? Most other churches have mortal founders but no rock of revelation and no foundation to recieve it let alone administer in the ordinances needed to return to live with our heavenly father.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be like Jesus and following in his ways. This means by not getting involved with the worldly appetites that are out there, and continually striving to be a better person each and every day. I am happy to say that people I work with recognize my faith and usually respect me for my standards even if they do not always follow the same pattern.

What is the First Vision?

Kim
I take the remarkable account of the First Vision very seriously, and I consider it the great eye opener of our time. The nature of God and Jesus Christ are made known, and also the answer about what church a person should be a part of is made clear. I love Joseph's inquirey of how he should go about worshiping Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I also love the answer that was given to join non of the churches of the day. This answer came because all of the different sects of the day were stagnant and thier creeds were wrong in the Site of God. It was also said that man drew near to God with thier lips but their hearts were far from him. Just think about getting a answer like that clearly I would not have expected that answer had I been in Joseph's position, But then again I digress each and everyone of us can experience the eye opener of the first vision for ourselves and know that what said is true. Yes it may come as shock to some other religions that we declare with boldness the events that happened, but yet it should be considered in line with what God has done in past generations of time. I have a testimony of this moment in time and speak by my own expierience that this did happen and God revealed this unto his prophet Joseph Smith. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Kim
I would like to share my thoughts about the bible with those who might read this post. The Bible is an inspired text about the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. The Bible is a great blessing to my life and allows me to look back into the time and life of Jesus Christ. There are Three main things I think that the Bible does for mankind. First it is the pophetic answer to the Old Testement Prophets who prophisied that Christ would come. The New Testement helps the Old Testement Relevent Reading both are essential in order to understand the dealings of Christ from the time of Adam and Eve. Second the New Testiment tells of the Virgin Birth and life of Jesus Christ. At the end of The Book of John it says that there were many other things on earth that Jesus did that were not written, and if they could be written they would fill the whole earth. This suggest that clearly Jesus would be active in the lives of us mortals all the way through the earths Lifetime. Thirdly the New Testement Teaches that Christ is the only way to recieve salvation and he is the critical role in the success of Gods plan. Also in conjuction with these teachings it is also taught that Christ was Resurrected and will come again at the time of the millenium. Paul teaches the people that before that can happen that there will be an Apostacy or falling away from god, also it is taught that got would strecth forth his hand again to redeem his people. The Bible and Book of Mormon are of equal importance to me. Show more Show less

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Kim
In order to require a Saviour one must understand the importance of one. This question I thought quite alot, and I have always been a strong willed I can do this my self kind of person. I also know that no matter how hard I try I make mistakes and I have regretts about those mistakes. In order to need a Saviour one must feel Godly sorrow and in order to have Godley sorrow one needs to understand what God asks of us. I love the scripture found in Hebrews that says in order to have faith in god one must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. It is also mentioned in the Bible to draw near unto God and he will draw near unto us. I have had that opportuninty and I know that God lives I know that he is my Heavenly Father and is very interested and desirous to have a relationship with me. I have learned what Gods' Standards are how one might ask? By the example of Jesus Christ a speacial son sent in the meridian of time to show us how to live and enjoy a relationship like unto Christ and his Father. When I feel distant from my father in heaven I know that I need to pray to him through the Holy Ghost I am reminded of what I need to be doing. When I make mistakes God has provided us Saviour to help with those mistakes. This was not and easy process and the Saviour Jesus Christ bled from every poor and sweat great drops of blood in agony for the sins of the world, and aslo hung on the cross and gave his life that we might be forgiven of our sins. Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Kim
Proxy baptisms can be a bit of a touchy subject, and there has been some recent news in the papers concerning it. Baptism is the covenant that is made when one becomes a deciple of Christ, and it is also known as the gate way to returning to heaven to live with God. Christ sent a decree to his Apostles which said go ye into all the world baptising in my name. Christ himself sought out a certain man named John the Baptist who was an outcast in his day and it was said that he wore camel hair and lived on honey. Christ himself was baptised by John who had the priesthood authority showing the rest of the world how this should be done. Christ Said unless you are born of the water and of the spirit one can not enter the kingdom of God. The key phase Can not enter. The great plan of salvation that god has for his children is Fair and just, and would be frustrated unless provisions were made whereby all who came to this earth would have the opportunity for baptism. God new at times of the earth the gospel would be lost or so small that many would not know about it. Therefore Baptisms for the dead came as a revelation from God to a prophtet the dead could not be redeemed with out our help and also we ourselves could not be saved without our dead. I once new a man who desired to know more about God and about the mormon faith, but before I was able to teach hem more he died in an auto accident. I testify that this is a true principle of gospel, and salvation must be fair to everyone. Show more Show less

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Kim
When I was younger I often asked myself that same question. I heard statements that testimonies grow by sharing them. I seemed to try and try to share it, but sometimes I did not feel anything. I am not saying that I was faking it I always felt the church was true and the doctrines of christ and of the lds church were true I just never new how to get it into words. I love the scripture in the New Testement that Jesus asks peter. "whom do you think I am" Peter replied with what some of the others felt, and Christ asks peter who do you say I am. Then Peter said Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God. Christ then said blessed art thou Peter for flesh and blood hath not told you this, but my father in heaven. I to have a testimony sometimes it came by the lord asking me a few times before I came up with the answer. Others say many things about the Jesus Christ, and I say I know that I am a son of the living god, and that Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. I also testify that he will come again to gather scattered Israel from the four corners of the earth. I am not ashamed to say this, because flesh and blood hath not told me these things but my Father who is in heaven. I have looked upon this website for past mission companions and relatives, and I have found very few who have written thier testimonies here. I want to challenge all of them to take a few minuts and share thier testimonies. God Lives and this is my testimoney . I leave it with you in Jesus's Name Amen. Show more Show less

Can a husband and wife be together forever? Do Mormons believe that families will live together in heaven?

Kim
Here are a few of my thoughts about this topic. I begin while I was serving a mission in upstate NewYork I recieved a phone call one morning that was a little out of the ordinary. On the other end of the line was a man who was vistiting the grave of his wife, and he was calling a friend to tell them that there was some wildlife hanging around the grave. As I answered the phone I told him that I was not the person he was calling for, but I did have and important message to share with him. He talked very somberly and I could tell by his voice he really missed his dear Wife. At this time I was moved by the Spirit to speak the words of Christ. And a scripture comes to mind when I feel that inspiration. It is from the book of mormon it says" Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost yea they speak the words of Christ and the words of Christ will tell you all things that you need to do." That is not a perfect quote, but it was by this feeling that I was moved to speak to this man. Not only had he called the wrong number and talked to someone on the other line for a minute or two about his sorrows before he realized I was not the intended person. I first felt to say sorry wrong number but then felt this feeling that it was not the wrong number the Spirit of the lord directed his call and when I spoke to this man I spoke with authority and said"I am a messanger of Jesus Christ and I have a message to tell you." The message was about eternal marrige and how he could recieve it. Show more Show less
