Hi I'm Matt

I am a husband, a father, an artist, actor and photographer. And i am a Mormon!

About Me

I am a professional image maker. Call me a photographer if you want but i believe it is so much more than that. I work in the film industry, commercially with products, models, businesses, catalogs etc.... I love creating and the collaborative creative process. I love snow skiing, swimming and generally being out doors. I am happily married to the girl of my dreams for over 17 years now. We have 4 wonderful children. We love experiencing together the simple things in life. Reading, cooking, gardening, family road trips, just being a family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the faith! My parents were both raised in the Catholic faith and went to Catholic schools. They questioned their faith and were never given the answers to the questions they sought. the later met missionaries who answered their questions and subsequently they decided to join the church. So as a recipient of their faith i was raised a Mormon. When i was about 13 or 14 i began to question my faith. I went to a school where there was maybe one or two other Mormons. I was defiantly in the minority. Other Churches claimed to be the only true church i thought so why would my church be any different? This weighed heavily on my mind and i finally decided to do what i had heard about much of my life as a Mormon. That is to not just take it as a fact but to ask God! I had the missionaries teach me as they would someone that was not a member of the church and i took the time to ask God, and He answered me. Not with a loud clap of thunder and the earth shaking, but quietly and softly he helped me to know that the path i was on was right. He helped me to know that i was indeed a member of His restored Gospel. He helped me to know that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that the book of Mormon is his true words just like the Bible. He helped me to know that Jesus Christ Lives and loves me. There have been times in my life things have been tough. I have been tried and tested in my faith but as i recall the feelings i have had as a youth and at other special times in my life, i gain the strength to stand strong and faithful in my knowledge that in the church of Jesus Christ of later day saints lies the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Daily i seek out truth in all its forms. How to eat more healthily, how to become more fit through diet and exercise. How to come closer to my father in heaven and his son Jesus Christ. It is part of my life. I pray to him daily and as i do i feel him near me. I read his word in the bible and the book of Mormon. I read his words as revealed through his living prophet. I do my best to serve him by helping others, serving as a teacher in Sunday school, helping others learn about their family history. I am certainly not perfect by any means. Not even close. But i know that as i continually get back on the horse when it bucks me off i'll get to be a better rider. In the same way, as i make mistakes, i do my best to repent and correct my actions and live more like Jesus.

In whom should we have faith?

Matt
We need to have faith in ourselves. We are capable of so much. The great gift of life given to us by our loving Father in heaven is an amazing opportunity for us to grow. Too often I meet people who are just going through the motions of life. Not putting in the small amount of extra effort required to truly LIVE life to the fullest. As a child of God, we have an infinite potential. First, we need to believe that God lives, loves us and wants us to become like him. With that knowledge, next have faith in ourselves.
