Hi I'm Brian

I'm a structural engineer, a husband, a father of 3 girls, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a structural engineer for a small Atlanta firm. I love architecture and am blessed that I get to help design buildings of all shapes and sizes. I enjoy solving problems and learning about how buildings are put together. My family is most important to me. I have a great wife and great kids. I enjoy hiking, golf, traill-running, and participating in triathlons.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that the Book of Mormon is true. I believe that Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet, and I believe Jesus Christ established His Church on the earth through Joseph Smith. I believe the LDS Church teaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ clearly and comprehensively. I've found that the more I learn about the gospel of Christ, the more I need to learn about it. The Mormon Church does not take away anything from the Gospel, I believe its teachings add to my understanding of it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be better today than I was yesterday. Christ was a perfect example for me while on the earth, and I think being a Christian requires me to do my best to follow His example. It's as simple as spending time with my little kids, taking a meal to a neighbor, and treating people around me as Christ did. I'm far from perfect, but the process of learning and growing day by day brings joy.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Brian
Absolutely not! We worship God and Jesus Christ, our Savior. Joseph Smith was a great man, and we respect him as a prophet of God, but respect and worship are not the same. He was called by God to restore important knowledge that had been lost from the earth, and he was faithful in his calling throughout his life. We place emphasis on Joseph Smith because he did so much good while he was on the earth. He was a modern day Moses, and was God's mouthpiece when he lived. After Joseph Smith was killed, another man, Brigham Young, was called as the prophet of the earth. This succession of prophets has continued through today to the current prophet, Thomas S. Monson.
