Hi I'm Doug

I'm a father of eight, an empty nester now. I'm a business analyst for a worldwide company. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a father of eight with almost twice as many grandchildren. I'm a business analyst with a worldwide company which has enabled me to travel the world. I appreciated the opportunity I have to visit places I'd previously only read about. I enjoy hiking, biking and spur-of-the moment road trips with my wife. We share an interest in family history and love uncovering new and interesting stories about our ancestors. I enjoy music and writing songs to the accompaniment of my guitar.

Why I am a Mormon

I was 19 when two missionaries knocked on my door and first introduced me to the Church but it was another 28 years before I was baptized. The association I had with friends and neighbors who were Church members helped with my eventual decision. They were sincere friends regardless of my religious affiliation (or lack thereof)--that made an impression on me. However, it wasn't until I was able to offer the heart-felt prayer, "Lord, let me know what You want me to do and I'll do it", that I knew with assurity. Following Christ has been a life changer. I now have direction and purpose for all aspects of my life. Through His atonement I have an opportunity to be like Him, not that I can be perfect as he is but I can try to be a little bit better along the way. Perhaps in striving to be like Christ I can do some good and repay in some measure the many blessings my Heavenly Father has given me. I testify that God lives, that He loves us as a father loves his children; so much so that He allowed his only begotten Son to die that we might live. Jesus Christ has paid the debt for our transgressions. And in His resurrection he has broken the chains of death. All will one day be resurrected. We have the opportunity to return with our families to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ eternally. I also know that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith is a prophet of God who helped restore Christ's Church today as it existed anciently.

How I live my faith

I teach a class two Sundays a month in my local Ward. I'm a Boy Scout councilor and have been involved with Scouting in many capacities over the years. I have also organized community service projects to maintain and improve our city parks.
