Hi I'm Evaly

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was in high school. I have been an active member of the Mormon Church ever since and know that it has been a blessing in my life. I was married at the age of 20 to a man I met while attending BYU in Provo, Utah and I have four grown and married children and five grandchildren. I work part time as a surgical technologist at a local hospital.

Why I am a Mormon

I do not know how I would be able to face the challenges of everyday life in these difficult times without the knowledge that God lives and that he loves us enough to have a living prophet on the earth that can tell us what God would have us know and do to be as happy and secure as possible. I often receive personal promptings from the Spirit that help me to know what decisions to make and how to handle challenges in my life as they arise. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the teachings of Jesus Christ have been an invaluable influence on my experiences as a mother of four children. Learning gospel principles helped me to reflect on ways I could be a good example to my children and be inspired in how to deal with difficult challenges that arose. The Church has programs for children and youth starting at 18 months of age that help to reinforce the gospel teaching in our home. The saying it takes a village to raise a child is true. In our case it took a Ward to help my husband and me raise our children. Jesus Christ lives and loves us and wants us to return to Him and Heavenly Father. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true Church that Christ restored in these last days. It is the same Church He established when He lived on the earth. He wants everyone who is willing to believe to become an active and participating member of His Church.

How I live my faith

I practice my faith on a daily basis - although I am the first to admit I am not perfect in everything. I have daily prayers, I try to study the scriptures regularly, I serve in the Temple once a week helping others to receive the saving ordinances given to bring us back to Heavenly Father. I live the Word of Wisdom - which means I don't drink, smoke or use coffee or tea. I try to avoid the influences of evil and undesireable elements in society - such as inappropriate media, immodest dress and activities, vulgar language or conversation and I strive to be honest and try to treat others as Jesus would have me do so. I often fall short in being as charitable and giving towards others as I should be, but it is a goal of mine to examine my motivations and look for ways to improve.
