Hi I'm Andreia

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 48 years old and have been married to the same wonderful man for the last 30 years. We have 3 sons who are grown and have children of their own. I have 7 grandchildren with 2 more on the way. I am a caregiver to my husband who is legally blind and on dialysis.

Why I am a Mormon

My husband and I became members of the Church August 25, 2007. One day the missionaries knocked on our door and I tried to get rid of them. About that time I saw my husband's truck coming around the corner and knew that he would get rid of them. When he got out of the truck, he spoke to them in spanish thinking that would get rid of them. A blond hair, blue eyed young man by the name of Spencer answered him in spanish and my husband just looked at him. Then they started laughing and my husband said that he was tired and would they come back later. They whipped out their little notebooks and by the time I knew it we had an appointment for the next evening. What I had heard about Mormons all my life had been so wrong. First question I asked was about Adam and Eve. My belief all my life was that it had happened the way it was set out to happen in the Garden of Eden and to my great surprise, it was the same with them. Every question I asked I loved the answers to each and every one of them. Then when they told me to read the scriptures and pray to find out if the Book of Mormon was true, I decided to do it with a major amount of skepticism. It showed how to pray in the proper way. My prayer was this "Dear Heavenly Father please help me to stop smoking, make me sick of it. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen" This was the first time that I had ever prayed in the proper way. But I was so stubborn that even in the prayer I told Heavenly Father that I was gonna finish that pack I was on because they were too expensive to waste. By the time I finished that last cigarette in the pack, I was so sick I never wanted another one again. This prayer was given July 17, 2007. My first smoke free day was July 19, 2007. I have never smoked again. My children used to say I was cheating because I was always in a good mood. I had no withdrawal from the tobacco because my Heavenly Father took care of me. From that day forward there was no way that I could not believe every word in the Book of Mormon. How wonderful my life became from that day on.

How I live my faith

My first calling in the Church was to be on the Activities Committee. We got to plan events for our ward. This was a wonderful experience. Then I was called as a Primary Teacher. Imagine me teaching children when I didn't even know enough to get through. This calling has absolutely changed my life. I had told my husband that we needed to learn more so I ordered the whole Primary guide books for myself. I figured if the children knew more than I did then these lessons had to be able to help me. The week after I received them, I received the calling into the Primary. The children and I learn together. It is a remarkable experience for me. I have had 3 classes of 8 going on 9 year olds that have been the most wonderful in my life. They soak up knowledge like a sponge so I have to do my research even deeper. Then I had told my Bishop that I really would like to go to the Temple more. About a month later, I received the calling to be a Temple worker. Oh my, that is wonderful beyond belief. To be in His presence so often helps with the trials of everyday life. I no longer am in the Activities Committee but I still teach in Primary and work in the Temple. My blessings are overwelming and abundant.

What are Mormon church services like? Are visitors allowed at church meetings? Can I attend church?

Services are very nice. Members are asked to speak on certain topics and in their own words. The only time no one has a talk is on fast and testimony Sundays which is individuals giving their testimonies. Visitors are more than welcome to come to services. In fact, I was a visitor at one time. Show more Show less

What do Mormons believe happens after we die?

I believe we go to an area to wait for the next resurrection so that we may go to Heaven and be with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for eternity. While we are waiting we are missionaries for the souls on the other side who have not heard the gospel. Show more Show less
