Hi I'm Matt

I grew up in Arizona. I'm going to school to become a nurse practitioner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the youngest of seven kids. I am married but don't have any children yet. I am currently in a nursing program and plan to do graduate work to become a nurse practitioner. I love the outdoors and have always loved paintballing. I like to sing and dance although I don't do much dancing these days. I like to help others and am working on starting a non-profit right now. I love reading and can't wait for spare time to read. I like to write poems as well but they are mostly for friends or family as gifts.

Why I am a Mormon

Everyone in my family is Mormon but that is not why I am. From my youth I had been taught Mormon ideas and principles but when I turned fourteen I realized I didn't know for myself if what I had been taught was true. I knew that Jesus Christ was my Savior but I did not know if the Book of Mormon was true or if the church was truly led by a prophet of God in these last days. Although I had read the Book of Mormon a few times I read, studied, and prayed about its contents over the years to come. I additionally prayed to know if the church was true. I decided to live all the principles I had been taught to put them to the test. Although I have had other experiences when I was 16 I had an experience while studying and praying about the scriptures. While reading outside the wind blew the pages of my scriptures and I read John 7:17 which says something to the effect that if any man will do His will he shall know of the doctrine. I know that what I had been taught since my youth was true. I additionally felt that the church was true and the Book of Mormon was the word of God. I came to know that the church of Jesus Christ truly had been restored on the earth and that it was led by God's prophet on the earth. I am Mormon because I have come to know for myself that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored on the earth. Everything that is good in my life is a result of my membership in the church.

How I live my faith

I have served in a number of capacities throughout the church, each without pay, and I currently serve as what is called the Ward Facilities Representative. This means that make sure the church building is clean after the weekly services are over and I coordinate with other leaders to schedule the building for activities with the members of the congregation. I additionally serve as a home teacher where I visit assigned families with a companion each month to ensure everything is okay and to share a spiritual message with the families. If the families need anything they are able to contact me and I hope I can help rides, moving, etc.. I also work as a voluntary temple worker in one of the Mormon temples. This is a very rewarding experience to assist and help in sacred ordinances. Ultimately I live my faith by the person I am each day. How I live my life shows to others what I believe. I daily read from the scriptures the Bible and Book of Mormon by myself and also with my wife and we daily pray together as well as personally. Everything I do is influenced by what I believe.
