Hi I'm Andrew

I'm a poet, a dreamer, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a variety of hobbies. I enjoy writing poetry and reading various books. I also enjoy photography and nature in general. I graduated from high school in 2008 and was able to complete a year of college before I began my mission. I plan on continuing my college education and hope to become a psychologist. I enjoy helping others and feel that that would be an approrpiate profession.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's Church restored on the earth through a modern day prophet. I was not always a member of the church though. I was baptized a Baptist as a young child and attended the Methodist church with my mother. After some unfortunate circumstances I was tossed from home to home and invariably from church to church. I saw goodness in each of the churches, but they varied so much. Later in life I moved in with my aunt and uncle and began to attend the LDS church. Before I moved in I had never heard of Mormons and Utah hadn't really been a state that stood out to me. I began attending though in North Carolina and was not very enthusiastic about learning. Well, I moved out for about three and a half years and in the time in between I spent two and a half years attending a Baptist Church and then a year without a church at all. I remembered doctrines of the LDS Church but could not remember where I had learned them. They rang true to me and I had finally reached a point in my life where I wanted to know Christ and find peace and security in His Gospel. I visited my aunt and uncle once in a while and attended church with them. I began to be taught by the missionaries and was baptized. I was later able to complete the Book of Mormon and it is the keystone of my faith in Jesus Christ. I have found a depth of healing and comfort in Christ's atonement that I would never have found anywhere else. I know that He lives and directs His Church. I know that Thomas S Monson is His Prophet in these days. These truths have helped me to change my life and I have been blessed to see them change the lives of those around me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by studying about and striving to live the principles taught in the doctrine of Christ. I nurture my faith by obedience to the commandments of God and by learning of Him and His Son Jesus Christ through the scriptures. These scriptures include the Bible, the Book of Mormon and others. As I learn of God's will through study and revelation I repent of my sins through changing my thoughts, actions and behaviors and striving to live in harmony with God's will. As of September 2009 I have been serving a church service mission and have had the honor of serving with the missionaries of the North Carolina Raleigh Mission. It has been a wonderful experience wherein I have seen a growth of faith, testimony and confidence in myself and in those with whom I serve. I serve Christ as I reach out to those without the fulness of His Gospel and help them to follow His example and live as He would have them live. When I am not serving with the missionaries I serve from home in various community organizations.

In whom should we have faith?

Our faith should be centered in Jesus Christ. He has, through His life on earth, shown us the way to salvation. He was and is perfect and as such has the attributes necessary for us to be able to have full confidence in Him. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Faith is a hope or assurence of things unseen. It is confidence in something or someone. It is a principle of action and power that leads us to follow after the example of the one in whom we place our faith. True faith, when it is placed in Jesus Christ, leads to salvation. Show more Show less
