Hi I'm Shawn

I am a skier, I am a scuba diver, I am a car fanatic, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I am 20 years old and am serving as a missionary in North Carolina! I love being with my family, skiing, anything to do with cars, and working! I am the youngest of four in my immediate family, but I have a really big "blended" family as we call it (step brothers and sisters).

Why I am a Mormon

Hmm... I would have to say that I am a Mormon because, well, I KNOW it is the right thing for me! I found that out when I was in Idaho for a special youth program designed to help them build faith in Christ. I prayed to know if God existed and I got a really strong answer that He does!!! After that, I prayed to know if what I was doing was right, and I again felt the intense warmth which I know to be the Spirit. Living the "Mormon Life" brings feelings of peace and happiness, and that is for sure what I want most out of life!!

How I live my faith

I, at the moment, live my faith by serving in the church. I love teaching people and helping them feel the comfort that only Christ can bring. One of my favorite things ever is serving others. It is something that has developed recently and I plan on continuing it forever. I am constantly evaluating myself and figuring out how I can live my life more like Christ did! In doing so, I am happier and I am able to recognize the Spirit more in my everyday life.

What do Mormons believe about family?

Shawn
FAMILY!!! This is a subject that most everyone finds a great topic to discuss. Usually when people first meet somehow or another they end up on the topic of families. At least, they do for me... That is because our families are a part of us, and who we are! Families are the one of the most amazing things ever. One of the major focuses of the church is strengthening the family unit. We feel like spending QUALITY (actually being together) time with our family is a massively important thing . If you think about it, most of our childhood we spend time with our parents and our siblings, we learn practically everything which is essential from them! I love my family and nothing could ever take me away from that. Show more Show less

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Shawn
The first thing that comes to my mind when I think of a Mormon lifestyle would be a happy lifestyle! Seriously, go up to any Mormon and talk with them for at least 5 minutes and you will see what I mean. But you may have or may be wondering, "How can Mormons be so happy with the way the world or the economy is...?" The answer to that is, we know in whom we trust, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! Another thing that helps Mormons be so happy is the actual way that we live our life. We strive as hard as we can to live by the Gospel of Jesus Christ which includes living the commandments, being virtuous, keeping our language clean, keeping our thoughts clean, and strengthening our families, etc. Really, this is what provides the happiness that the world seeks after. I know this because this is what I seek after, happiness. I strive to live a simplistic, true, faithful, and an obediently HAPPY life.  Show more Show less
