Hi I'm Blake

I'm from Ohio, I play guitar, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Utah. My dad grew up in the church and my mom's family joined it when she was young. I grew up in Ohio, learning from my parents who God is and what is His plan for us. I was one of the only mormons in the town I lived in. I sing and play guitar and piano. I love the outdoors. I speak Spanish. I'm a university student studying Biology and Music, and I love being a missionary!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the church, but as anybody familiar with mormonism knows, that's not enough. You just can't hack it without a real conversion, or change of heart. One day, it was put everything I've got into being a mormon and living the commandments, or walking away from it forever. I read the Book of Mormon, and prayed to know if it was true. Heavenly Father answered my prayer, and now I know that this is what He wants me to be. I believe that through the Gospel and the restored Church of Jesus Christ, that families can be together forever. Through Jesus Christ's Gospel and Priesthood, my family is sealed together, and if we all are diligent in keeping the commandments and following Christ, we'll be a family in the next life after we've all passed away.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sharing it with others. I'm a missionary! I serve in Arizona in the hot hot sun. I get real tan, and share the Gospel with everyone! I live my faith by keeping covenants, or promises, that I made with Heavenly Father. When I was baptized, I made a covenant to keep God's commandments. I've promised to do be obedient to God, and He promises blessings to me. That's what keeps me going back to church each Sunday, and living the standards of the Church, the hope that I can live worthily to be with God again someday. Of course, I won't make it on my own. That's why we have a Savior, to make up for our mistakes if we repent and change.

Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Christ said that His church was to be based upon Prophets and Apostles recieving revelation from the leader of the church, Jesus Christ Himself. Amos 3:7 explains it pretty clear that the absence of prophets just isn't part of God's plan. After the death of Christ and the Apostles, no new prophet was chosen by Christ. Just men tried to lead the church, but without a prophet, it was not possible for the true church of God to exist. In the early 1800's, God chose another prophet, Joseph Smith, and He has chosen a prophet in our day too, Thomas Monson. Show more Show less
