Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a professional Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist, and Pianist, and I refuse to exploit my body to perpetuate my career. I believe these talents are a gift from God. I feel that becoming a musician was almost inevitable. Music is within me. Since my teens, I have written dozens of songs in the pop folk genre, and several worship songs as well. I have produced CD's that are sold on my website, www.RebeccaHelmer.com. I have performed my music for tens of thousands of people throughout the country, and I have been blessed to travel to South America, Asia, and Europe as well, all the while hoping to be a light to those around me. Of all the feedback I ever receive from listeners, by far my favorite thing to hear is, "You have been blessed." Many of my songs have been inspired by my sweet husband, who has never failed to support me in my dreams. I feel blessed to be alive every day and look forward to what the future holds.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know too much to go back now. I can't deny the truth. I have personally come to know the Lord through my study of the gospel, my personal prayers to the one who created me, and the lessons I have learned through life. I know that there is more after this life, and I know that I worship a God who will not forsake me. This doesn't mean it will always be easy, but if we turn to the Lord, he will not forget us. I have read the Bible and the Book of Mormon many times, and I believe both are the word of God. I believe the latter to be another witness of Jesus Christ as written by peoples in the Americas. It confirms and testifies the truthfulness of the Bible. I had many experiences growing up in which I was persecuted or mocked by people with very limited understanding of my beliefs. I went to a Christian school where fellow students accused me of not being Christian because I did not believe exactly what they believe, but I know who I pray to. I know who I live for and I do not fear man. I live for the Lord. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith in how I act and in how I treat others. I am just like anyone else. I love to have fun with friends, play sports, travel, write music and poetry, create art, and laugh a lot. I don't feel that I need drugs and alcohol to enjoy life, in fact, I think drugs diminish the joy of living. I try not to gossip, swear, judge others, steal, or lie. I try my best to keep the ten commandments and then some. I pray every single day, and read the scriptures every day. However, I am still imperfect. That is why I desperately need my Savior Jesus Christ. That is also why I know it is important not to judge other people. That is not my job. I try to love everyone, even when they are cruel to me. I think this is what we should all do. I do this because I love God.
