Hi I'm Alec

I'm a Mormon. I'm slowly going bald and gaining a little weight but my wife and family still love me! They're great.

About Me

I am a dedicated family man, love anything outdoors and love an adventure. I recently finished construction of a home theater so I can watch my favorite action movies in 7.1 THX Surround. It's a blast. I keep chickens, am learning leathercraft in my spare time, and am in the throes of designing and landscaping my backyard. I love convertibles, and nothing relaxes me more than putting in my earbuds and hitting the open roads at night, turning and twisting through the back roads. I work for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints as a religious educator and have the privilege of working with college age students and volunteer teachers. I love my family and my job!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church but didn't know the truthfulness of it until I was 19, when I humbled myself enough to sincerely ask The Lord about the prophet Joseph Smith. My prayer was answered in such a sacred, spiritual manner it is hard to describe, but suffice it to say that when it was over, I knew, physically and spiritually, that Joseph Smith saw God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. It has been an amazing, exciting ride ever since.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. I'm not perfect, and I have a long way to go in becoming a true disciple of Christ, but I do know that if I have faith in Him and do my best to help others increase their faith in Jesus Christ, He is pleased with my offering and sacrifice and his grace will be sufficient to save me and my family. To me it's all about having faith in Jesus Christ. I work with the young adults in my congregation and love seeing them grow and develop.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

The Bible is absolutely the word of God. I marvel at how God had his hand in it's creation and publication and how He used such inspired men and women to bring it forth. The sacrifice of those "heretics" who gave their lives so that we could read it continues to amaze me. Which is why I love The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. After really studying how the Bible came to be, it makes total sense that He would speak to His other children, through prophets, in other parts of the world. God loves ALL His children and wants to talk to them through prophets, not just the lucky ones who happened to live in Jerusalem. Show more Show less
